We have just got back from an overnight stay and dinner and are compelled to post a review straightaway.

The dinner was delicious, the service fantastic, and the accommodation gorgeous (we stayed in a four poster room).

We would recommend The Auberge in a heartbeat, out stay was faultless and worth every penny.

We spent a very pleasant evening at The Auberge for my partners 50th birthday on 9th March 2012. The staff were wonderful and attentive and they put together a wonderful "fruit de mer" starter for us all to share. The atmosphere was really warm and relaxed and the food was good.
Well worth a visit.

We have been staying at The Auberge for many years. Why do we return as often as possible? Because it is simply the best! Dee, John and Jon Stenhouse are committed to indulging every guest, ensuring they enjoy the unique Auberge brand of superlative customer service and hospitality. The food is truly sublime - fresh local produce cooked imaginatively and tasting divine. The rooms are cosy and welcoming with blissfully comfortable beds and spacious bathrooms. The Auberge is without a doubt the life and passion of the Stenhouse family, and they have clearly succeeded in offering the ultimate restaurant with rooms experience.

We had stayed twice before at The Bull Auberge and really enjoyed the quality accommodation, relaxed atmosphere and friendly, professional service. For a New Year break we booked 2 nights, Saturday 31 December 2011 and Sunday 1 January 2012. Our room was in the new annexe - ground floor this time, and not quite as good as the 4 poster rooms on the first floor. The New Years Eve event was very well supported and we thoroughly enjoyed it. My wife is vegetarian and John as usual made a real effort to accommodate this. We enjoyed a walk down the lane to Thornham church each day, as well as more exploring of the interesting countryside, including Thornham Walks.
When we booked Jon (junior) quoted us £300 for 2 nights and the New years Eve party, which was very good value. We just paid for drinks on top.
Another great stay - we think of The Bull Auberge as our little "find" in Suffolk.
John, Dee and Jon are to be congratulated on converting and developing this old pub, and now maintaining such good standards.

Room Tip: As for a 4 poster!

We recently stayed here when the place we usually stay was closed over the holiday period - the room was fine - large & good bed with OK linen - bathroom fine (underfloor heating which was lovely) and good towels. Furniture a little dated but clean and perfectly all right.
We stay in London a fair bit and I'm not sure about the comment comparing these rooms to those in a top London hotel - it depends which London hotel you stay in I guess...
Breakfast was slightly disappointing - we were told breakfast finished at 9.00 and to be there by 9.15 at the latest (!!) only to discover that the proprietor had his own family coming in for breakfast after we had all gone! Slightly odd way of treating your customers I would have thought but there we are...We also had to give our breakfast order the night before - again slightly odd as I don't know about you but I'm never quite sure what I might feel like eating the next morning....when breakfast arrived it seemed as if it had been cooked an hour or so before and had been kept warm - not very appetising.
All in all, OK for one night - we didn't try the restaurant....I have seen good reports on tripadvisor about the food but then it would need to be.....thirty pounds for a steak in the middle of rural Suffolk?
