We had never been to Italy, so I tried to find out as much about different beach towns as I could. We planned to have the beach be the last stop on our trip. It’s a great place for a family. The location of this apartment is fantastic. Don't rent a car for your stay here - you won’t find anywhere to park, and you won’t need it. You can walk to the beaches, restaurants, grocery stores and 2 castles right from the apartment. There is a grocery store right next to the apartment building.
If you want to go further than your legs can manage, take the bus. Note: there are no bus ticket offices anywhere, so you need to by bus tickets at a tabbachi which is like a small corner store - that was a bit of a mystery when we first arrived at the train station in a nearby town. If you want to see the villages in and around cinque terre, I highly recommend a boat that docks right by the main square. You can look it up online, but the apartment has information about it as well. The place even has a back yard! Just buy some mosquito repellent. It was great - We cooked dinner in the apartment, and ate out there most of the 5 nights we stayed.
I would absolutely book this place again. Our host was very helpful and knowledgeable about things to see and do and how to get around. Lerici is a fantastic beach location. Be sure to go to the free beaches - some will charge you for access, and some won’t.
