It was a very pleasant surprise, a 1950s gem in the heart of Italian Riviera, just 3 kilometers from Sestri Levante and 1 hour drive from Cinque Terre.

Service was excellent, staff very friendly and proactive, ready to help with any query. Breakfast at a lovely terrace overlooking the sea with a good continental breakfast buffet. Views from all rooms are just stunning, overlooking the sea and stretching from Portofino to Sestri Levante. The only thing was that the room need a bit of updating,
for example the bedspreads and definitely the bathroom/ shower door which can be a challenge.

Overall great experience and good value for money, we would definitely go back to Mediterraneo, great budget hotel in the heart of Italian Riviera.

Room Tip: choose a high floor room for better views

Me and my wife stayed two nights and we had no regrets. The staff is wonderful and the hotel has a swimming pool on third floor with view of the sea. On the same floor the restaurant has a balcony where we had the breakfast. The hotel has a swell a big parking as you can see from the pictures.

We stayed at the Hotel Mediterraneo in early May. We chose it on the recommendation of a friend from Liguria because it is on the beach, and near the Cinque Terre, Portofino and Genoa. We had a delightful five-night stay, half board - an excellent value

The rooms were all very clean and well-equipped and have balconies overlooking the sea. Some of the bathrooms are small. The hotel is set back from a sandy beach, which is a two-minute walk from the front door, and is well-shielded from the noise of traffic and trains along the coast.

The staff and owner couldn't have been more accommodating, both in the hotel itself and in the restaurant. The pool is lovely, heated, with a spacious, well appointed terrace overlooking the sea with sun-bathing chaises-tongues and tables for a pool-side drink or snack. The front terrace is ideal for a campari and soda before dinner.

Breakfasts and dinners were excellent and the friendly staff couldn't have been more helpful. Breakfasts are geared to satisfy all appetites, and the dinners were varied and based on local specialties with antipasti, pasta, main course and dessert. The seafood was especially fresh and well-prepared. The house wines were of very good quality.

The hotel is convenient to both the Cinque Terre, Portofino/Santa Margerita and Genoa both by train and by car. We went before the beginning of high season, and would strongly advise doing so if possible, simply because even in early May both the Cinque Terre and Portofino were getting crowded. We recommend driving the five kilometers or so to Sestri Levante (itself a charming town) if you are going to the Cinque Terre or Genoa - trains are frequent and faster and there is plenty of parking next to the station.

A highly recommended hotel in a prime tourist area, that is quiet, family-run and excellent value.

Room Tip: Higher floors have better views.

Stayed here for five nights over the Easter weekend.
The rooms are simple, but very clean with comfortable beds.
A very nice and clean swimming pool was heated and warm enough to use early in the season. We used it every day after visiting the region. The pool terrace area also offers spectacular views of the nearby sea.
Breakfast selection was good, with the restaurant also offering sea views.
The hotel has ample free parking and is a great location for visiting this stunning region. There are good restaurants within walking distance and/or a short drive.
Finally, the staff are extremely welcoming and friendly.
Highly recommend.
