A historic gem hailing from the era of Thomas Mann's Death in Venice. The grounds, gardens,views, pool, beach are c'est magnifique. The food is excellent. Antonio, the General Manager, and his staff are wonderful hosts. We will return.

We stayed here for a night, and spent a good bit of time talking about what it mush have been like 50 years ago or even 100 years ago. Everything still has that 50s look and feel. I am guessing that most of it is the originals from the late 40s/ early 50s. All in all it was a nice get away that had great views, nice grounds to walk, and easy to get to. I wouldn't go out of my way to stay here, but I would stay if passing through.

This is a hotel of faded grandeur. Firstly the positives;
The room was lovely with two balconies one of which had a sideways on view if the sea. It was very clean. The breakfast was great. The views over the bay are stunning. There was some road noise but didn't bother me too much apart from a noisy siren about 7.30 am.
We arrived mid afternoon for an overnight stay on our road trip down the coast. Would have been lovely to relax with a drink by the pool but we were informed that there was a charge of 25 euros/ day to do this. I'm not sure if this was each or per room! Either way it seemed a little steep for an hour or two. In all of our travels I've never been asked to pay for access to pool and beach in a hotel before. Left a nasty taste in the mouth.
We had planned to eat in the hotel so wandered down to the bar around 6pm hoping to get a couple of drinks. Not a soul in sight. The place was deserted! Sat and looked at the view over the forbidden beach and pool for a bit (still nobody). We gave up and walked about 10 minutes in to town. Brilliant night!

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view

We travelled from Rome to Naples and visited several hotels, this one was the best what we experienced. Stunning views, private beach, pool, in the middle of nature (very green and nice flowers/trees around). Good breakfast and very kind service, cute room. The only minus I found was only too small shower cabin :)

Great charm of the golden days. This hotel must been once the place to stay. It is not walking distance from Formia old town but has a great location. Premises are very nice, great pool and beach at doorsteps (extra cost both of them so careful with price comparisons).
The room is nice, some minor chips on the walls and deco quite quiche. The best part of the hotel is the wonderful views from the window of your room and the great terrace. We had dinner served there, I recommend you do so. Wifi works perfectly fine everywhere around.
