We have just returned from a family holiday in the Universal Hotel Cervia. The hotel is spotless and accomodation ( we had a Superior room) was extremely spacious. The highlight of the hotel is the food which offered eceptional value and quality. The full board option costs only 10 Euros a day more than 1/2 board and, as it offers a 4 course meal, beautifally served, is worth considering. The pool, whilst small is very well kept. The beach ( across a road from the hotel) is immaculate and unlike many places, chairs, umbrellas and bach games ( as well as kids play areas) are all provided free. On the down side, the hotel is a little far away from the main town and there this resprt will not suit people looking tfor a typical tourist town. There are few good reestaurants in the area and virtually no tourist shops. Additiuonally, very little in Cervia is in English as the town mainly caters for Italians.
Having said this, for a relaxing holiday by the beach with first class food ( fish eaters will love it and vegetarians were well catered for), this makes a very enjoyable break.
For a more glitsy town, stay 3 kms away in Milano Marritima which is not as nice at the beach but the town centre is much more modern.
