Reviewed 17 October 2017 for a stay in October 2017

Very goed location! Beaches and Cefalu nearby. Clean and modern Interieur with everything in it we needed. From Antonio we got a lot of practical information. Thanks for everything and we hope to return very soon for this real Sicilian feeling......!

“Small cozy clean flat in the cutest village in Sicily ”

We stayed here with our two year old daughter
Just wanted a quiet holiday away from the busyness. Sant'ambrogio is perfect for that! Got into a daily routine with the local bar, served the best coffee we had during our whole stay in Italy! With their own gelato, our daughter learned some Italian in this village.... And the local restaurant Osteria Bachus OMG! Best food we had over the whole trip same with the pizza place.
So the village is small, two bars (we didn't even go to the other one since both the coffee and view was perfect at the first one) gourmet restaurant and a pizzeria that was really tasty AND the lady babysat our daughter whilst we ate x x she just took her and went to pick flowers and talked to the old men at the piazza. So we found the whole village magical
Downside. The beach was far too rocky for us and there was a massive thunderstorm who set the sea crazy with waves so we couldn't swim in the sea. Since we didn't rent a car but went 'simple' life using buses (but really we went by taxi a lot do it got a bit dire). Advice: get a car do you can get around!
We did go on little excursions but it was too tricky with the stroller or carrying our girl around. Found steps up & down the village to the beach though had to walk on the motorway which felt uneasy to get to the beach. There are some flatrentals that has their own steps that takes you under the m.w in a tunnel but then you need a key to get in to that complex. Anyway
stay in st. Ambrogio to get the best quality experience and rent a car then you can visit the very busy but amazing cefalu for the beach, other restaurants & shopping as well as other things around.
There is a huge organic view on farming and living around here. We wished we could have gone and visit some in the Madonie national park. Very impressing, guess life on the island gets much more affected than what we experience in Northern Europe, or they're just more in tune with the sea & nature
Just a note since after that massive thunder storm, we tried to have a beach day on a private beach (through a hotel we also stayed at cause we needed a pool so our daughter could get some water time) but it was impossible because of all the rubbish and plastic washed up. Very sad. It made us become aware of the huge world problem regarding our sea of plastic.
Not just a Sicilian problem, a world problem.

Back to the flat. It was simple and sweet, fresh though very hard to sleep during the thunderstorm cause the electricity went and the emergency light went on in the bedroom where the fuses & switches were. So we couldn't sleep & our baby woke up twice went it went and we had to cover the strong light with a big scarf taped up on the wall using plasters... quite chaotic but nothing that anyone could do anything about. It was a crazy night and electricity went in half the village
But Antonio was great during our whole stay. He came to check up on us every day to see if everything was good. Great guy

“A wonderful relaxed romantic few days away from it all”
Reviewed 24 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We have being to Sant Ambrogio before and love the village and the inhabitants because they are very friendly and helpful. This time instead of going with family and friends we stayed at Casa Nonno, which fitted the bill. We enjoyed this newly restore small house which was ideal for us two. We are already arranging to return to Sant Ambrogio in late September with friends and have booked the Villa Mara, which fills the bill with its many amenities and private pool. Can't wait.

“Lovely relaxing town and comfortable accommodation”
Reviewed 3 May 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Casa Nonno is a new unit with all that you need, except TV and Wifi. The little town of San Ambroggio is very quiet and relaxing and you get to experience living in a small community of 250 people. The views from the town are magnificent and you are only 15 mins from touristy Cefalu. The little restaurants in the town are welcoming and provide good local food and Saro makes great coffee at his bar on the "belvedere" as well as providing wifi.
Had a swim at the local beach which is difficult to access but worth it.
We needed to get assistance from people in the town to locate the unit and gain access as the contact person listed on Trip Advisor is in the UK and the phone number of the local contact was not provided. Met the owner who said this would be rectified.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
To the owners, the unit could use a kettle.

“Get away from it all”

My wife and I had always wanted to visit Sicily and after a hectic 8 weeks in our catering business a window of opportunity arose. We had a 5 day window so booked Casa Nonno to get away from it all. It's in a secluded little village in Sant Ambrogio, about 15 minutes from Cefalu. Car hire isn't necessarily a must because there is a bus service to the busy neighbouring town. There's a couple of local restaurants which were very welcoming and on the three days we spent in Cefalu we were simply spoilt for choice. The local beach is a bit rocky but about 7km away is the lovely beach at Cefalu. Our accommodation was beautifully appointed and beautifully maintained, everything was as we would have wanted it. Sadly we were only there for four nights but to really enjoy this place I think we'll return for at least a week !!
