We have just returned from a week at Calanica. It is absolutely beautiful and we cannot fault it! The staff were fantastic, really friendly and always went out of their way to help you. Nothing was too much trouble!
The accommodation is made up of individual bungalows which were spotlessly clean and well equipped, even with a little concealed kitchenette with a microwave and hob. Each bungalow has its own little patio area so lovely for relaxing and looking out over the lovely grounds and the sea.
We were half board and breakfast includes a range of fruit, cakes and continental style meats and cheese etc. We had their omelettes made on request a few days and they were delicious! You can choose to have lunch or dinner on a half board basis. Dinner or lunch was selected in the morning from a good selection of three courses meals. There was also another starter which was served so don't be tempted with the nibbles served around the bar area before dinner! All of the food was beautifully prepared and very tasty. I. Not a great pizza lover but their pizzas are wonderful!
The resort is about 30 minutes walk along the sea front to Cefalu which is a lovely little town with lots of shops, history and restaurants. There is also a lot of history and if you are adventurous there is the challenge of climbing to the top of the Rock! Well worth doing! Lots of history and fantastic views from the top! Take good shoes and drinking water. There is a really good supermarket about 5 minutes walk away from the resort.
The resort is set on a cliff side so is quite steep. There is a lovely relaxing area down by the sea to sunbathe or just watch the sea and beautiful sunsets. It has a lovely pool and tennis courts.
The whole area is lovely and quiet which suited us. If you are looking for lots of night life and entertainment this resort may not be the right one for you although you can reach Cefalu by taxi for 10€.
All in all we would rate this as 10/10 and thank the staff for making our stay extra special.
We left a phone in the safe and contacted the hotel from the airport. They were so helpful and the phone is now on its way back to us! Thank you so much!

All the good things in other reviews are spot on. Especially, amazingly helpful staff, position on a cliff! You just need to be aware that when its hot and you dont want to power walk into town it is a 30/40 minute walk depending how far you go into the streets. The alternative is a 10 euro each way taxi, so you need to weigh up taxi vs half board. Wondered if the owners could strike a deal with the big hotel at the end of the drive to share their courtesy bus which often went off mostly empty.
We went B&B as we like to experience different places to eat and menus but if you end up coming back late from trips the only option on site is a la carte food in a very sombre dining room. Bit forced when the same staff who run the daytime bar are dressed up like kippers to serve at night. Not for us. Shame they cant still provide the light bites they serve during the day. Kitchen is open anyway.
As everyone says the site is on a cliff and some people we came across were quite distressed having gone up to reception. This along with the longish walk to town could be a deal breaker for some folk.

Room Tip: Lower rooms have a steep climb out but top rooms are beside the railway. Not helpful sorry.

We have just returned from a week at the Calanica resort all we can say it was just the most beautiful place ,the staff were so friendly and welcoming .the location with the private beach and breath taking sunsets has to be seen to be believed . the villas are clean and modern with your own terrace over looking the beach and cove . Breakfast was really good every thing was fresh and of good quality . Cefalu is about a 30 minute stroll along a promenade although a steep walk back up to the hotel on your return (we caught a taxi back 10 euros ) you would need mosquito repellent as there was quite a few in and a round the resort we loved Calanica Resort so much that we have already booked for two weeks next year 2019 (one week is definitely not long enough ) one other comment the beach is lovely but you would need beach shoes as the first part of the sea is pebbles sand once you get into the water ..

Room Tip: all amazing except room 11

This hotel resort is a great find. From the moment you arrive the staff offer you a warm welcome and really look after you. The bungalows are lovely with amazing views over the sea. We had number 26 which was in a perfect location, close to the sea and the restaurant and bar! It is very hilly here with lots and lots of steps so please be prepared for that! The access into the sea isn’t great due to all the rocks so it’s good to have the correct footwear but once you are in the water is fantastic for snorkelling and is very calm. The pool is also lovely and warm and has plenty of loungers. Overall a really enjoyable and relaxing stay in a very beautiful place.

This resort is a welcome contrast to the hustle and bustle of busy, but beautiful Cefalu. It is set in a wonderful location (as long as you don't struggle with walking on steep slopes/steps) just on the outskirts of Cefalu. The bungalows are well equipped, have fabulous air conditioning and are spotlessly clean. The bungalows are well spaced out, each with private access path(steep stone steps) and a private outside area with small table and chairs to soak up the spectacular sunset over the bay. The sea is clean, clear and calm, allowing snorkeling in the quiet bay (you definitely need beach shoes to access the water). The most striking thing about this resort that makes it stand out from the rest are the staff. Without exception they are helpful, welcoming and dedicated to making the resort and your stay the best it can be. There is no doubt that they are the most pleasant staff we have experienced at a hotel/resort. We would definitely go back, only reason not given 5 was that some areas like the decking are rather tired and could do with upgrading. Grazie tuti!
