“Perfect Location to see all of Tuscany, A true paradise!”

We spent a long time looking for the ideal cottage in Tuscany to use as a home base for exploring all of the wonderful sights this region has to offer.

Our search criteria made it very difficult to find the right place.
Had to be centrally located in Tuscany.
Had to be away from highway and busy streets but still offer easy access.
Had to have a nice fireplace to spend our nights talking about the day and sharing a glass of wine.
Had to not have a TV as we wanted a true vacation.
Had to have a nice kitchen so that we could cook breakfast each day and a few dinners.
Had to have a nice view that could be enjoyed from a covered patio in case of rain.
Had to be away from a city.
Had to be a private location as we didn't want to feel that we were in a hotel.

A long list of must haves that we almost gave up on finding. Then we came across Le Ripe. It seemed to be too good to be true. Every item on our list was there along with amazing reviews on Trip Advisor. Something had to be wrong, it would be booked for the time we needed, it wouldn't meet up to our expectations, something.

Well I am very happy to say that there is no place in Tuscany that could have been better for us to celebrate our 35th anniversary.
We spend 7 wonderful days at Le Ripe in March. The weather was cold but that made the fireplace all the better.
Every day we headed off in a different direction to see the sights of Tuscany and the surrounding region. From Radda to Greve, Sienna to Florence, Cinque Terre to Lucca, Montipulciano to Montalcino. Le Ripe is the perfect location to do it all.

There are too many good things to say about Le Ripe to cover here. I can only confirm that all of the other reviews are completely true and accurate.

To update a few items that we saw in other reviews;
We found the bed to be very comfortable. I didn’t look to see if Leitha added a mattress topper, but it was comfortable.
The cottage now has very good Wi-Fi service. This allowed us to keep up on some e-mails and even make a few Skype calls.

Thank you for a wonderful time and sharing Le Ripe with us.

PS, Just finished a batch of limoncello, thanks for the tips on making it.

“Just lovely”

We spent a wonderful week in the Tuscan countryside with Le Ripe as our home base. Its central location makes Le Ripe the perfect jumping off place for all manner of adventures. The cottage is quiet, spacious, well-equipped, and surrounded by lovely gardens and storybook vistas. And it just happens to have a Michelin-rated osteria at the bottom of the driveway! Leitha was immediately responsive to all requests and great at providing guidance; the perfect host. Highly recommended!

“Tranquility”
Reviewed 14 April 2013 for a stay in April 2013

A lovely peaceful spot removed enough from civilisation to have satisfied our desire for tranquility, but close enough to all the main attractions of Chianti to enable us to explore when we wanted to. It is perfectly private with beautiful views, a sunny outdoor table for alfresco meals and wild deer that visit at dusk and dawn to graze.

The cottage itself is comfortable and more spacious than it appears in the photos, and fairly well equipped including a perfectly satisfactory little kitchen. The bed, however, is very short and taller guests might need to explore the downstairs sofa bed. The wi-fi works well, but lack of good bedside lighting made reading in bed difficult, which was a shame as we enjoyed the lack of TV. If you have an Italian mobile phone provider, please note that although TIM works in the cottage, WIND does not. A clothes-dryer might be a useful addition to the laundry as when we stayed it was still cool and a little rainy, so it was difficult to get things like towels dry. The access road was also very rough although we managed it in a 'normal' car.

The comments above are meant in the most constructive way as overall we had a lovely stay and believe this is excellent value for money (we'd even be prepared to pay a bit more with a few additional ameneties mentioned above). Chianti is a wonderful area - not to be missed!

Following on this review we have had a question about Wind and Tim: for those who do not know about Italy's mobile phone systems: Wind and Tim are two sim card providers. Our wireless connection works fine...as the review indeed points out...
Looking forward to seeing guests, Leitha.

“Majestic Heart of Chianti Classico”

Where do I start?...The minute we drove up the narrow secluded road to the property, I knew we had made the right decision. It was perfect in every way. Having spent many summers staying in cabins in the Canadian Rockies as a kid, this was exactly what I had hoped it would be. Rustic, but modern. Secluded, but close to everything I had travelled to see. The property is endless for exploring and hiking, the kitchen was wonderful for cooking (dishwasher was the best part!), and there was a fireplace that added that romantic touch. The view from both of the private patios was sureal. I spent many hours a day just sitting outside and daydreaming. The owners were very helpful, warm and welcoming to both of us. If you are looking for a true taste of Tuscanny just a little bit off the beatten track, this is the place to go. I can't wait to go back. Please remember that there is no WIFI or TV :) You need to break that addiction before you arrive...
