“A magical week with the family at Podernuovo.”

I find it hard to put into words just how special Podernuovo and Alvina and Umberto are to us. We stayed here 2 years ago with friends who had stayed before and couldn't wait to come back. When we arrived it felt very special. It really feels like coming home to family. Our 2 boys are 2 years older (now 3 and 5) and were greeted like family. Alvina had special dough set aside for them to make pizzas on our first night with Umberto. The apprentice chefs were thrilled and stayed this way the whole week. We last stayed in spring so it was lovely to see Podernuovo in summer. While Spring is amazing with the flowers and fireflies, the summer with the abundance of fruit on trees and veges in the vegetable patch was fantastic. The view is amazing at any time! We collected the apples in the morning to feed the donkeys. The kids couldn't wait to put the sheep away every night with Umberto. My husband and I got to relax- properly relax for the first time in years and sit under a tree and read books and drink the lovely wine from the vineyard while the kids played. The kids tried new food that they collected with Alvina and my very fussy 3 year old added a whole new variety of foods to his diet. We only left to get fresh pasta, meat for BBQ's and delicious small goods from Castel del piano. The accommodation is excellent and has everything you need. There is 2 bathrooms and bedrooms. The shutters make everything dark allowing for sleep ins - even with our early risers. The kitchen has all the things you need to cook your own meals and the BBQ was well used. We only left once to explore the region and visited nearby Montalcino and Siena. We visited the area a lot more last time and is amazing - but this holiday was all about relaxing and quality family time. Which we achieved both. And with all good things- saying goodbye was like saying goodbye to family. Tearful with the promises of a return trip. Hopefully earlier than 2 years this time!!

“This was the highlight of our trip to Italy”
Reviewed 30 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Podernuovo. The villa was spacious, fully equipped and very comfortable, set in beautiful gardens and with breathtaking views. We enjoyed local produce from the working farm which even ran to their own wine (don't miss the Rose!). Our hosts were welcoming, generous and helpful, and we enjoyed walks in the local area recommended by them as well as their favourite local restaurants. It was a memorable and relaxing part of our holiday.

“A truely wonderful experience that we will remember forever.”
Reviewed 5 November 2015 for a stay in October 2015

I think that if you read the other reviews for Alvina and Umberto's "Villas at Podernuovo" then you will get a small idea of the wonderful experience that awaits you at this beautiful Tuscan farm.

My wife and I, along with two friends, rented one of the two bedroom villas for two weeks during October, and had one of the most memorable and enjoyable holidays we can remember.

We enjoyed our stay so much, and our hosts were so very welcoming and delightful, that we departed extremely reluctantly, and only because we had further travel plans.

Alvina and Umberto are consumate hosts, the villas are delightfully comfortable and the location is perfect for experiencing all that Tuscany has to offer.

We have highly recommended Podernuovo to all our friends, and we look forward to coming back, hopefully soon, to our Tuscan retreat.

“A beautiful peaceful place”
Reviewed 12 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

This was our second visit and like our first we had an amazing time.
The hospitality of Umburto and Alvina made us feel like we were visiting old friends.
Pizzas straight from their wood fired oven, figs, tomatoes, nuts and more all straight from the garden they share with guests , washed down with Umburtos own wines- it was just what we needed after flying straight through from Sydney. How lucky were we to have found such a place to relax and explore Tuscany.
We stayed in the old chestnut drying building that they have restored to a fabulous 2 bed 2 bathroom cottage that has everything and more.
No need to shop for coffee ,milk etc as we arrived to Umburtos fresh sour dough bread, eggs from the chooks, tomatoes, and fresh herbs from the garden . Alvina had also filled the fridge with her own preserves, chutney and sauce.
You will wish you had booked to stay longer.
We will be back.
