For anyone wanting to visit the monastry this is an ideal choice. Right at the foot of the mountain with stunning views up to the summit.
Basic but clean the staff could not be more helpful.
Only fault is the lack of drink making facilities in the rooms.

Hotel is located on the square that has the Cathedral for Cassino. It is a short 10 minutes from the autostrada and well before the congestion of central Cassino. Hotel is at the base of the mountain that has the Abbey at Monte Cassino. View from our balcony was of a fort part way up the mountain.Staff (Ennio&Anna) could not do enough for us as tourists unfamiliar with the area. Found us a laundry 10 steps from the hotel that did a full bag, washed and folded and returned to the hotel for 8.5Euro. Checked on Mass schedule at the Cathedral and found a grocery store. Happily provided us bowl after bowl of ice. Rooms are large with fridge, good desk and flat screen TV. No coffee maker. Free wifi. Good sized bathroom with heated towel rack. There is free parking in a small gated lot next to the hotel. Note staff must open the gate. There is no night clerk so watch your time of departure/arrival.Breakfast was mediocre. No meat or cheese. Neer hotel within a block are a pizza place and a bakery to die for. Within 1km all kinds of stores and restaurants.

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet.

The hotel Gari is very comfortable and clean. The staff are excellent and always willing to help in any way. The location of the hotel is close to all amenities. Monte Cassino is a lovely view from the balcony. If you are looking for a friendly comfortable hotel the Gari is ideal

We stayed for 5 nights in November whilst visiting family in Cassino. We had stayed at their sister hotel the Marconi around the corner a year ago which was fine except the bed was too hard there which is why we looked elsewhere and chose here. The hotels are very similar and our room #104 was very clean, spacious with good furniture. Comfortable super-king sized bed. Free wi-fi in the rooms as well as cabled. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was very good although maybe not good for diabetics or gluten free, 80% is bread, cereal, cakes and pastries wit hte other 20% being cold meat, cheeses, yogurt and fresh fruit. Would have marked as 5* but I have deducted 1* for the shower. It was a small cubicle with 45cm unused space next to it so would be better with a room wide tray and front door instead of tiny cubicle with the most awkward door ever. Also the margin between cold and very hot was minimal so not easy to maintain. Useful tip ~ although TV in Italian English made programmes/films could be changed back to English using the Audio button on the remote to change the language. Despite the shower we would happily stay at the Hotel Gari again and would recommend it.

This small hotel is clean, tidy, relatively new and perfectly placed. It sits in the old WW2 frontline, with views to the Abbey and castle that would have been similar to those of troops 71 years ago.

Dining was not offered but there are plenty of restaurants to chose from within a block or two, and at any rate the centre of town is only 10 minutes walk.

Staff are friendly, breakfast was satisfactory.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view to the hills. (West.) Most have balconies.
