“"Our week long stay not long enough"”
Reviewed 25 May 2017 for a stay in May 2017

Paolo, our host mentioned that when we were leaving on the train to Ventigmilia to call him so that he would pick us up at the Bordighera train station. We were happy to see him waiting for us with his car since it would be a bit of an uphill walk with luggage to our apartment which was in the charming old town on the third floor.

We loved our apartment as soon as we walked in. It has high ceilings, with big windows that open wide to see all of the amazing views of the ocean and mountains. Beautiful sunsets and at nights you can see the lights along the shore all the way to Monaco. We couldn't get enough of the view and ate quite a few of our meals in the kitchen looking out of the big window. The kitchen was very well supplied with everything a person could need including coffee for our breakfast. There was a grocery store a few minute walk where you could find all essentials including fruit & vegetables. In the main town there are a couple big supermarkets. We had a little clothes line outside our window to hang our things to dry. The bathroom was also very nice with big windows and everything very clean.

On one rainy day we enjoyed the apartment watching BBC news which was appreciative since not all hotels subscribe.

On Thursdays, there is a nice market behind the train station on the promanade and on Fridays an even bigger one on the promanade in Ventigmilia which was a beautiful walk along the sea. There are quite a few Restaurants along the way where we had lunch at a little place called Bar-Cafe Cucina Casalinga. Decided to walk back to Bordighera watching all the activity of market day.

We took the bus to the beautiful medieval town of Dolceacqua and another day to Pigna. Do not try this on a Sunday since the buses don't drive up the mountain on that day. We stood at the bus stop for an hour in Ventigmilia when someone stopped and gave us this information.

In the evenings it was enjoyable to walk through the park and along the road looking at all the flowering plants and especially beautiful and exotic cacti. The architecture in the main town is also very impressive and a nice walk in the evening.

We ate a few meals in the old town at the La Piazetta next to the church. There are a few others but we liked this one for relaxing atmosphere and the pizzas were good!

We had the best sleeps at Bordighera Alta and wished we had stayed longer since nowhere else in Italy was there such serenity.

Thank you Paolo and Frederique for being such wonderful hosts. We are so very fortunate that we decided to visit Bordighera and stay at your lovely apartment. We enjoyed every minute and would certainly stay with you again in the future.

“Lovely, convenient well equiped flat in beautiful town”
Reviewed 4 July 2014 for a stay in June 2014

This flat is perfect for exploring Bordighera. It is ideally situated in the lovely old town and is only 5 minutes walk from the main town. The flat has all that you need for a holiday and there are lots of things to see and do in the area. I recommend Creazioni Martita's art and crafts shop which is about 30 seconds walk from the flat for unique gifts for friends and family (and yourself!). The owners of the flat are lovely and we used a combination of Italian, English and French to communicate!

“what a view of the town and sea!!”
Reviewed 1 June 2014 for a stay in May 2014

We got there, but could not quite find the flat. We rang them, and they both came to meet us. Which was very nice. They even helped with our luggage. As its a few flights of stairs. You are in the old part of town here and feel like you are living like the locals do. We had wonderful views of the bay. The flat is very well equipped for all your needs. We would like to go back again. Shop is very close if you want to cook for yourself. There are plenty of good restaurant s close by to eat though.
