My four night stay at the Bucaneve was very enjoyable. This was my first time to Bardonecchia so I chose this hotel based on other TA reviews and it's central location.
The staff, Elisa, in particular were great. She helped me gather information on ski schools ahead of my visit.

I traveled very light so I was able to walk from the train station to the hotel in around fifteen minutes. There is a free city shuttle bus that covers the same route but I arrived after the bus stopped it's operation. Overall my impression of the property was that it was very cozy and welcoming in an alpine way. My room was quite basic but functional in that bedding was comfortable and the radiator did a great job keeping the room comfortable (and drying my clothes after the slopes). I used my little balcony to keep my beer and salami cold since there was no fridge. My complaints with the room range from a really poor wifi connection to a desire that instead of two small chairs and a small table as the room's sole furniture, maybe a small lounge chair could help to help kick the feet up after a day of skiing, biking, or hiking.

Walking to the slopes and ski shops is very easy. I took lessons each day at Campo Smith. It is no more than five minutes away. There is heated storage ski and boot storage at the hotel of course. A good benefit of this hotel is the city shuttle bus from Campo Smith to the ski area at Jaffreu. If you wish to ski Jaffreu it is very easy to get there from this hotel.

I cannot speak to the hotel's restaurant as I never ate there. But the staff were friendly. The room was spacious and clean. There is even a small elevator too. Bardonecchia is slow paced village so this type of accommodation fits in quite well.

I stayed here for a short break with two friends (a couple) in early March. We had an apartment with a double room, a lounge area with sofa bed and a bathroom. I would rate the rooms 3*, as I would the breakfast. What makes his 4* is the warm attention of the family who own the hotel. Whilst they speak little English, their care and eagerness to help was charming. I've stayed in a few places in Bardonecchia and all have been fairly good - when skiing your not always looking for luxury, but practical and warm! Stay here over campo smith, unless you really can't walk another 5 minutes to the snow.

We stayed at Residence Bucaneve 3 nights end of January 2013.
The owner are very nice and welcoming. Also the agency we booked through Solandra was very nice and spoke excellent english.
The owner drove us to the night skiing slope and then you could ski back to the hotel. Very nice. It's not more than 100 m to the main lift (Madonna/Marilleva/Folgarida) and when you come back you can ski almost in to the hotel. We had half board and they had a very nice cosy restaurant. Good food, good service and kids club for the children.
The rooms are a bit dated but the bathrooms were new. Everything was very clean and fresh. My son was ill the last day of check out and we could keep the room for almost as long as we wanted.
Thank you very much Residence Bucaneve, we had a very nice stay:-)
