“Excellent Xmas Cottage & Location”

Stayed with Husband and another couple. Very well equipped cottage and really comfy beds. Special thanks to John and Stephanie for personally decorating the cottage with Xmas decorations which was done beautifully. (we appreciate the distance you came to do this, also thanks for the Turkey tray.) We visited Morton in the Marsh Market held every Tuesday well worth a visit and we were able to buy all local fresh produce. Christmas Eve we booked a meal in the local pub the Fox very good food (Chef has MBE for cooking for the troops in Afghan etc). Xmas Day lit the log fire meandered to the local at lunch time and made to feel welcome by the locals. Broadwell is a very pretty village and in a great location to visit the Cotswolds, Stratford and Oxford all within easy reach.

“Probably better in Summer”

The cottage is very pretty, well equipped and well placed for touring the Cotswolds.
However it smelt strongly of Dog (maybe the previous occupants, or a permanent state, don't know), had to use a lot of Febreze every day. The heating was supposedly on a timed system but didn't seem to work so I ended up controlling it manually which was a nuisance,
especially having to switch on the water before showering. (But again it might be that this is down to a previous occupant tinkering with the system).
I think it would be super in the summer, but a bit dismal in October.

As my headline says I am British and have lived and worked in North America, Hong Kong and mainland China. Having had this cross cultural experience I can absolutely and whole heatedly recommend Red Cottage in the most positive way. From my first enquiries to the delightful owners my experience was only positive and only improved upon when we arrived in this beautiful part of the country, a secret village hidden away in one of Britain's best bits with such fantastic links to every bit of the Cotswolds you could wish to see! Red Cottage was also a fabulous surprise, every part is well thought out, beyond comfortable and as someone that loves to cook, everything that I needed to rustle up a lovely meal in the kitchen. It was early summer when we visited and the cottage is light and airy and so beautifully furnished and equipped, each room has wonderful attention to detail and it really is home from home and trust me, I have incredibly high standards, but I will be going back and I will definitely visit over the winter months as I can't wait to use the wonderful log burner in the lounge......thank you for a providing a cottage that was more than as described and a fabulous place for me and my daughter to holiday.

“Lovely quiet cottage with all amenities”

My two sisters and I stayed in this cottage in Broadwell for a week.It is a pretty little village with a pub and a village green.Broadwell is a mile and a half from Stow on the Wold which a great town, good pub, great deli, plenty of antique shopping and super Tesco.
The cottage is picture perfect with lots of country craft touches. In the mornings you could hear the birds chirping and cuckoo sounds.
We had a lovely time as the cottage is so central. We went to Bath, Sratford upon Avon, Broadway to see the folly, Morten in the March, Bourton on the Water, Cardiff and upper and lower Slaughter. Lower Slaughter was lovely, paticularly the waterwheel at the old mill. There is also a great gift shop at the old mill and we bought some great gifts.

One of the best places we visited was Greater Tew, a village with lots of chocolate box type houses with thatched roofs. We spent time walking around and stopped for a coffee and a slice of lemon drizzle cake at the local cafe.

Liked best: The quaintness of the cottage, the central location and the peace and quiet. We would have liked to stay longer.
Liked least: The stairs were very steep and we had to leave the suitcases in the lounge room and the shower only had a hand held piece, but everything else far out weighed this.
