“Everything you need for a great holiday”
Reviewed 16 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Both the apartment and Orahovac village offer everything needed for a great holiday base for four adults. The apartment is clean and well equipped. All the appliances were new and worked perfectly. It is very spacious and offers a spectacular view across the Bay of Kotor. It’s less than five minutes walk from the well kept beach. There are a couple of friendly, low key bars on the waterfront, and an excellent beach side restaurant with tables perched overlooking the bay. The nearby corner shop sells everything you need. There are some lovely walks up the mountainside behind the apartments, to the Chapel on the Rock and beyond, giving fabulous views of the whole bay. Although there are regular busses through the village, we hired a car at Dubrovnik airport (you must visit the walled city of Dubrovnik if you can) and for us Orahovac was a great base to explore the locality and beyond. Nearby the walled city of Kotor is breathtaking, although busy when a cruise liner was visiting. From the village of Perast we took the boat out to the small islands in the bay. We followed the directions provided in the welcome pack and ascended the peak across the bay from the village from which you get dizzying views down onto Kotor on one side, and across to the Adriatic on the other, over the busier resorts of Budva and Tivat. We also took in longer trips to atmospheric Lake Skandar in the south, and north into Bosnia, which is surprisingly different to Montenegro and Croatia. We had plenty of help from the owner, a big Montenegro fan, with advice on places to go, when to go, what to take and so on.

Great that you had such a good holiday. Our apartments are an excellent base for enjoying the beach life in Orahovac as well as exploring the Bay of Kotor and further afield - and well done for taking the opportunity to experience Bosnia as well as Croatia, and discover Montenegro's beautiful Lake Skadar, which neighbours Albania. It's nice to know that the information pack was fully utilised, as we've spent many weeks researching and suggesting good tours to do. Hope to see you again next year!

“Very nice apartment and location”
Reviewed 27 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

The view is simply superb and even better than what you see in the pics. Orahovac is by far the best place, together with Perast, in the whole bay. The apartment is clean, modern, well-furnished; the owner is very nice and always willing to help. The beach is very close, and there you will find several bars and restaurants, without the fuss of other touristy places in the bay. Orahovac is a great place, indeed, with a distinctive atmosphere; if you like peace and relaxation, this is the right place for you, differing from more hectic places (Budva, Petrovac, Ulcinj) and, especially, without the maddening traffic and noise of the coast.
I suggest visiting wonderful Perast and having dinner in one of the restaurants directly on the beach (Konoba Bronza and Il Conte). Orahovac offers you the very best of the Mediterranean, without the pricey tags and ridiculously hyped locations! Kotor is nice, but avoid the days when it is overcrowded with the daily inflow of tourists from the cruises: best seen in the evening when few people are around (parking is also a nightmare, in those periods). A beautiful farmer's shop takes place in the mornings under the porches of Kotor's front walls, to the right of the main gate. Mount Lovcen offers amazing views of the bay, but take care of the road: 17 kms of narrow turns with cars and trucks coming in both ways,
Final warning: we spent five hours (!) in a queue at the frontier on our way to Croatia. Consider well your time of departure and avoid, if possible, crowded moments (Saturdays), especially in the summer.

Thank you very much for your great review. We agree with everything you say - Orahovac is a beautiful place, and is superbly positioned for views, swimming, sun and visiting Kotor and Perast. Queues at the border with Croatia can cause delays in the summer, although there is another crossing further south which is quieter. And another way round this is to fly directly into Montenegro, to Podgorica or Tivat, thus avoiding the Croatian border.
Hope you will come and stay with us again soon!
