“Lovely, relaxing week in postcard-perfect rural France”
Reviewed 8 September 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We are a family of four, with two young boys. We found the location to be safe and quiet, the accommodation very comfortable. There were plenty of places to visit and things to keep our discerning, (demanding?) boys entertained just a short car ride away. Highlights include the picturesque La Mothe St Heray, market day at Lezay, the amazing Tumulus de Bougon with its burial sites dating back to 4500BC, and a curious place called Le Vallee de Singe where over 40 species of monkeys happily roam largely free-range. We found the refreshing, permanently welcoming swimming pool all important for unwinding after these day trips. There will be much here to interest avid gardeners too as Steven and Fay were clearly very au fait with the french flora and the exotic blooms everywhere added much to the holiday spirit.
We hope to visit again very soon.

“Fantastic French hideaway”
Reviewed 21 August 2013 for a stay in August 2013

Just returned from a lovely 2 weeks at la petite sojourn. Steve and Fay were very welcoming and their communication through the booking process was great. The gite is clean and comfortable and the pool and garden area is beautiful. Bagnault itself is a typically picturesque French village and only 10 mins from the nearest town with a boulangerie, supermarket and petrol station. There's plenty to done within an hour's drive and there are numerous maps, guides and so on in the gite. The only downside to being in deepest rural France is that there were lots of flies which prevented us from enjoying the outside barbecue area as much as we would have liked. Overall, a peaceful and relaxing stay which we would heartily recommend.

Excellent guests too!! Yes, we have flies in August but they are pretty much gone by the end of the month and are nowhere to be seen in the earlier summer months. Also on the plus side, we don't have mosquitoes here at all ... and having stayed farther south in the Dordogne and Gironde regions before now we are very grateful for that!
