“Fantastic experience”
Reviewed 23 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Were made to feel welcome from the start. Cottage had everything you would need and more re catering/living whilst on holiday. Each cottage had its own privacy area as well as acces to shared areas. Pool and vineyard were also fabulous.

“Le Magnolia - a little piece of heaven”
Reviewed 26 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

This was our second trip to Le Magnolia and we will definitely be going back for a third time. Chateau La Gontrie is a working vineyard. Jean Louis and his wife Nola live on and work the farm. They have three self contained units that they rent out, of which Le Magnolia is the largest. This is a 300 year old farmhouse, with three large bedrooms, an eat-in kitchen, separate dining room and sitting room. It is old style, and is the better for it. Jean Louis and Nola are the perfect hosts, attentive when necessary, and discreet the rest of the time. Jean Loiuis's gave us a vineyard tour and tasting, which was fascinating. The property has a shared pool, which is gorgeous, plenty of activities for the kids, and is a 10 minute walk from the small village of St. Caprais de Bordeaux. There is plenty to do in the local area, and Jean Louis's tips are wonderfully helpful. We went home with a boot-full of Jean Louis's delicious wine, acquired on the premises.

“Le Magnolia cottage”

My family and I spent a very pleasant week at Chateau Gontrie in Saint Caprais de Bordeaux. We stayed in a spacious cottage called ‘Le Magnolia’ (sleeps six), which is part of the old farmhouse and has lots of character. The cottage was well equipped with a BBQ and garden table and chairs outside. (There are 4 cottages available for rental overall). The owners Jean Louis and his Aussie wife Nola were very welcoming and helpful in providing information regarding the local area. Chateau Gontrie is a vineyard in Entre-Deux-Mers, a wine region in Bordeaux situated between the rivers Garonne and Dordogne. We enjoyed a complimentary wine tasting with the vigneron, Jean Louis. The property was ideally placed for exploring the Bordeaux region and the swimming pool was very welcome at the end of a day out, particularly as we stayed during a heatwave! http://www.chateaulagontrie.net/

“Very nice accommodation in between all Bordeaux wine hotspots”
Reviewed 11 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

A number of spacious and well-furnished holiday homes. Nice size pool and friendly owners who are keen to inform you on what's on and where to go. Half an hour from St Emilion, half an hour from Bordeaux and 45 minutes from the Médoc. Weekend lets are possible in Winter time.
