We turned up for Sunday lunch without booking, so there was only space in the bar, which is pleasant although the comfortable furniture isn't ideal for eating a cooked meal. We both ordered the roast pork, which arrived reasonably soon and was excellent. Portions were generous and everything was good, with special mention of the carrots and the crackling and forgiveness for the roast potatoes being just a touch on the leathery side. Service was very friendly.
The likelihood of us being anywhere nearby at lunchtime is low, but if it happens we would be very happy to eat there again.

It’s some years since we visited this gastro pub and had a disappointing meal so we thought we’d give it another try. Unfortunately we were disappointed again - it seems to us that their menu aspirations exceed their chef’s capabilities. The thyme-roasted portobello mushrooms & salt & szechuan pepper squid starters were very pleasant. However the mains of belly pork with scallops & butter milk southern fried chicken were very poor. The chicken tasted like the fried chicken at any fast food outlet and the ‘njuda sausage was barely detectable. The belly pork dish consisted of a large slice of flabby colourless pork with unrendered fat served with several straws of what we assume was the crackling and which tasted vile. The accompanying slab of dauphinoise potatoes was humungous and was very undercooked and not remotely creamy or unctuous as it should be.

The place was very busy on the Friday night when we were there and there were plenty of plates of burgers, fish & chips and steaks being served to other tables and these may be very good but that is ordinary pub food, not gastro pub fare.

We thought the wine on offer was very expensive for a pub and decided on the reasonably priced house red, only to be told they had run out!! We therefore had to make a more expensive choice. However, to their credit, after I commented unfavorably on this state of affairs, they did bill it at the house wine price.

On the plus side, the décor and ambience is very good – modern stripped wood, interesting decorative pieces and comfortable. The service was also good.

We were treated to this meal so aren’t able to give a total cost but starters are £6 to £8 and mains between £12 & £20. The red wines £20 -£60 with the house @ £16.50.

In warmer days the outside area is well done and a good sun trap ! Inside quite cosy with various areas to sit - although they should offer a children free zone inside !
Went for a late Sunday roast about 6pm - quite a high price for the area - Starters - squid was good - mushrooms - good but portion small - more bread then mushrooms. the lamb was over cooked and was served small end bits - maybe the 'left overs' from the lunchtime ? Beef apparently was okay - some was chewy. if a restaurant is going to open late on a Sunday they should cater for late comers or not offer a Roast - there is no excuse.
Staff were very friendly and good service. Will not be a favourite for a Sunday roast.

We visited At Saturday lunchtime, perfect drinks and a quick lunch before heading off to Gatwick. We sat out in the lovely garden and we’re treated to fantastic sharing platter food and prosecco.
Will definitely try and fit in another summer time lunch.
