“Perfect rural retreat”
Reviewed 25 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We stayed here for a week in August and had an extremely pleasant stay.

The house is full of character but with all the mod cons, and having 2 children meant that the washing machine and dishwasher was a great bonus. The garden is a great size with plenty of space for the kids to play (we ended up buying a paddling pool from the hypermarket as well) and the garden furniture meant we could make the most of the great weather and eat outside or sunbathe.

The house is a good size and very comfortable, the discovery of the Freesat TV made the kids day! The bedrooms are large and well equipped, the beds are comfortable and we had plenty of space to store clothes. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and more than enough cutlery for the four of us. We did encounter a problem with the water temperature in the shower (not ideal on the first night after a long drive) but this was quickly sorted by the property managers.

For anyone looking for a quiet break, away from the hustle of everyday life, this is a perfect property. We will definitely visit again and, hopefully, for a bit longer next time.

“Excellent little cottage in rural France.”
Reviewed 9 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We stayed here with our family for 2 weeks in August and had a very comfortable and pleasent stay. The house is a typical French property but with all the mod cons, having 2 children meant that the washing machine and dishwasher were good additions. The garden is big with plenty of space for fun and games. The locals are very friendly offering us local grown vegetables, and even the language barrier was not too much trouble. The house itself is very comfortable, there was a tv there with freesat, but we mainly ended up sitting in the garden. The bedrooms are large and well equipped, the beds are comfortable and freshly laundered. The house itself was clean and tidy, and well maintained. The price for our stay was very competitive and we felt we had great value for money.

The village itself is very peaceful, there is not a shop, but local amenties are only a short drive away. The pizza shop / bar in Thier, is a must, freshly cooked pizza and a refreshing drink whilst you wait.

With the village being in a rural setting a car is a must, the town of St Hermine has all the things you could need, the supermarket, doctors & pharmacy can be found here. Also the Piecine Municipal is a great way to wind away a few hours, the pool is heated and also outdoors, so on warm days it is a nice place to go. The nearest beach we found was at La Tranche Sur Mer, which is about 40 mins away, but with its nice sandy beach, the drive didn't spoil the day. La Rochelle is also a nice place to visit, with its shops and the historic port area and restaurants.

For anyone looking for a quite break, this is ideal and you won't be disappointed, we will be booking again for sure.

“Comfortable quiet rural setting”
Reviewed 8 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

If you want a quiet relaxing base, this property is ideal, You need to have transport as there are no local shops, in common with many of the local villages, The locals/neighbours are very friendly and were keen to offer us some seasonal vegetables
We as a large adult family enjoyed a very pleasant week here, when we visited the area for a family wedding. We did spend a fair amount of time in a nearby village with relatives. The location is good as a base for exploring the Vendee and is approx 50 minutes from the coast.
It is very rural and there is absolutely no phone signal which may be a very good thing. There is freeview satellite box so if you really must you can keep in touch with the UK
