“Perfect accommodation”
Reviewed 22 May 2017 for a stay in May 2017

We descended on this brilliant cottage 4 adults and three dogs- was even better than expected-nice and cosy thanks to super efficient radiators (didn't need to use the wood burner) WiFi worked brilliantly as did the Satellite TV - bedding and towels supplied were of high standard and saved having to bring them with us. Well located on the North coast for trips east into Caithness and West to Tongue and Durness (make sure you visit the Chocolate Mountain there!). Cote du Nord restaurant a short walk up the hill was very fine grown up dining but beware don't take plastic of any sort and you need to book as only seats 8 max ! Farr beach is to be recommended as a doggy heaven playground and the Farr Bay Inn produces good value food and is dog friendly too.
Was a rare treat to stay in this nicely restored croft is such a fine setting- thoroughly recommended. Chris and Fiona

“Wonderful Crofting Farm Hamlet over looking the North Sea”
Reviewed 19 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Absolutely charming, step back into time with fire place in the kitchen nook. Everything you need for a peceful relaxing visit to the North Coast. The Cottage is beatifully appointed and repectfully decorated with photos of the past and art of the surrounding area. My spouse and I spent a few days short of a week in the area and still left many things for next time. We are sad to go with plans to hurry back.

“Stepping back in time”
Reviewed 14 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Tucked quietly away, close to the end of the road, a traditional style house with all the necessities of modern day life. You will find interesting details of the history of the house and recognise how some of the older features and fittings have been incorporated into the renovation. Cozy, inviting and begging to be revisited. Kept beautifully clean by a local housekeeper and plenty of information on who to contact if problems (there were none).
Fast response from the owner to all enquiries.
Ideally situated to explore this most northern part of Scotland, but you don't need to wander too far before finding some real gems in terms of scenery, beaches, walks and wildlife.
In someways a little like the Western Isles in feeling you've stepped back in time, but with more drama and interest. Be prepared to see more sheep on the road than cars.

“House was ideal, surrounding area a delight”

The house is both practical and full of charm, just right for us. Downstairs, a rustic (but very well equipped) kitchen / eating room, with stone floor and open hearth; and a stylish, comfortable lounge. Upstairs, 3 comfy bedrooms: two doubles, one with adjoining single - perfect for a couple with a young child. Bathroom was clean and modern. Outside, a small garden with slide and swing. Everything was spotless on arrival, and perfectly set up for our stay. Wifi is available.

From the front, the house has a beautiful western view overlooking the coast. The nearest beach is too small to spend much time, but Farr, just a 5 minute drive away, is glorious: dunes and endless sand - with adjoining pub.

Nearby: an informative museum about the area; neolithic sites; a fish n chip shop (open at weekends) and all the wild, empty scenery you wish for. If you're up to it, try climbing Ben Hope and Ben Loyal. We had great weather, and so fantastic views of sea and hills and lochs in every direction.

Ceol-na-Mara gives you everything you need for a fantastic stay.

“A great blend of tradition, history, and comfort - all in fabulous setting”

We stayed in the cottage for several days. It is a very nice blend of history, old charm and "soul" yet perfectly adapted for modern needs of a foreign family with a little girl. A wonderful setting
"at land's end", in a little Scottish village, let us really find peace and tranquility at a very distant corner of magnificent Northern Scotland.

We did not meet our host in person and it usually took a couple of days before getting an email response (however, the response would come quickly after we had left a message on the answering machine), but then everything fit the description and was in good condition. And, again, the "spirit and soul" of the place, well maintained by the host/s, are really something to remember. We do recommend staying at Caroline's in Kirtomy :) If you like remoteness and prefer tranquility to the excitements of busy resorts - this is the place (speaking of both the cottage and the area).
