“good 80s party night”
Reviewed 25 February 2012

This was our second visit to the Village Nottingham. We are a party of 4 couples. Reception and room service was all good. The pool and sauna area were excellent, changing rooms were clean and well serviced. I did not use the Gym but it looked good and was not too busy. The general bar area was well servicedThe only downside was the staff for the party bar were inexperienced and not managed at all so there were long 10 minute waits at the party bar. The party itself was good and well worth a try. We tried the NYE party and had a few problems but the improved service proves they are listening. Despite having a full house for breakfast staff were still friendly and helpfull and breakfast was good. There is a nature reserve just 2 minutes walk from the hotel that is worth a walk around.

we booked this hotel for the weekend to break up a long journey, The hotel was what you would expect being part of the village group, so no complaints from us, service was friendly, hotel was clean and well maintained, value was great as we only paid £149 for b&b for 2 nights. the location was good as it was on a retail park so there were plenty of shopping opportunities. we used the hotel pool, resaurant and bar, all good, and the early bird menu was exceptional value for money and the food was lovely. the only thing i would mention was that the room was quite a walk from the reception and we did lose our way several times, but on the whole we had a great stay.

Room Tip: family rooms were far away from reception

The hotel was easy to find but my mum who i went with was very upset as she didn't realise it was in the middle of an industrial site and was hoping for a country estate overlooking a lake or something. Anyway the hotel was very impressive from the look on the outside and as we entered it was a standard hotel like a travelodge. The receptionist was friendly but never explained what facilities the hotel had as we went on a spa break for two days. The room was basic and had a cracked sink. The first nights meal that was included well what can i say it was like a la carte hardly anything on your plate so ok if your on a diet. The breakfast on both days well don't have the fry-up as the bacon is hard as rock and it wasnt very nice. But they do have other things like toast and cereal. Also the orange juice and tea arn't very nice. The food was better on the second night and if you go between 5-7pm you can have an early bird menu and have anything from a 1 course to a 3 course which was £11.95 for the 3 course and that food was delicious espceially the pate for starters, steak for main and chocolate fudge cake for pudding. The spa treatments were very disappointing as i had included a back massage and a pedicure. The massage was nice but the pedicure it was a case of cutting toenails and putting some cream on and painting them which i could of done at home. Normally they get rid of the dead skin and you put your feet in water to sofen them. I did also have a mud treatment and paid extra for that which should of been £65.00 but got discount of 25% through spa breaks and it wasn't even worth that i thought. The gym was large and you never got stuck for a machine being free but it smelt of sweat in there. The swimming pool was a great size and it had a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna which were very nice. The toning tables were different however not looked after as some of them were broken. Overall the cleaners were the nicest people not the other staff as everywhere always needed cleaning and the staff didin't seemed bothered in helping. The spa treatments staff were friendly and helpful but overall i woundn't book another village hotel as apparently they are all on an industrial estate. I think next time i'll pay that bit more and hopefully get something better.

Room Tip: Don't have a room above the function room as when they have functions on they don't finish t...

We like village hotels and again the room and facilities were excellent but 221 is the furthest from the entrance and lift so a bit of a trek with the bags.
The staff were very polite and efficient especially the room maids and reception.
Now the fly in the ointment! When tying to book on line it showed offers which could not be obtained and it said contact the telephone line. On doing so the jobs worth lady said the offers were not available to her service even though the web site said it was. I naively booked rather than protesting, not that it would have done any good with her. Two days later the offers were still showing on the website and bookable. Having spoke to customer lack of service I was referred to the small print. Not good watch out for the con offers that come by e mail.
The soap had run out in the room as did the tissues. Soap was replaced but no tissues because it was the end of the month!
Final disappointment was the breakfast. Tea made in your own cup with a massive pile of tea bags and spoons did not look good. Fruit was limited and generally the food was ordinary.
Will book these hotels again just not Nottingham.
Location was good for the retail park shops and the city is not too far to drive too.

Room Tip: Avoid 221 just a long way!

We have just enjoyed a great weekend at this hotel/centre. Voucher bought for us and having never been to Nottingham before slightly apprehensive. But would highly recommend to anyone. The hotel is situated on a retail park(don't worry) has a pub style bar, restaurant, Starbucks and full leisure facilities- all of which are excellent. Catch the bus from the end of the road and it takes you to the centre, where you can enjoy a relaxing day.
