“A Little Bit Of Heaven- Completely Amazing”
Reviewed 8 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

I honestly have no complaints about the amazing stay we just had. All of the little touches just make it perfect, like the heated floors, the songs sound system, the canoe etc. All just add up to the most amazing and romantic place I've ever been. The loch is just stunning. I can't wait to come back.

“Absolutely gorgeous - the perfect getaway”
Reviewed 25 March 2015 for a stay in March 2015

Birchwood was absolutely gorgeous. It has everything you need and more and Alison makes sure your whole trip runs smoothly - even throwing in biscuits, tea and wine on arrival!

Such a peaceful location, and there was nothing better than sitting down at the private beach every morning and finishing the day in the hot tub. Plenty of walks nearby and cafe's and restaurants within driving distance.

Our only negative was that we couldn't stay longer! Highly recommended.

Just back from a long weekend staying here and we loved it. It's so peaceful it's ideal for chilling out and relaxing. Facilities are great - love the hot tub! And the sonos music system - my partner loved that! Will definitely be back - can't wait!

“Beautiful and cozy”
Reviewed 7 February 2015 for a stay in January 2015

My husband and I were looking for a last minute get away and couldn't find anything that suited us, either the places were fully booked , too far away or too pricey. We then came across this little gem 'Birchwood' and I'm so glad we did! If you're looking for somewhere to just completely chill out and relax, then this is the place for you. It's in a great location with stunning views, it's completely private! The lodge itself is super cute and very cozy and homely!,The wine, milk and shortbread were also a lovely touch on arrival! Having the sonos sound system throughout the lodge and outside is great! There's also sky tv and a selection of books to read and dvds to watch! Which is perfect! The added bonus with this place is the outdoor hot tub and sauna which is great to relax in. My husband and I did this every night! (Very nice when it's snowing outside)
I Would highly recommend Birchwood lodge! Thank you Ali, you have a beautiful place and we will definitely be back!

“A perfect weekend get away”
Reviewed 2 February 2015 for a stay in January 2015

I booked Birchwood Lodge as a wee surprise for my girlfriend to cheer her up after the return to work January blues. I couldn't have asked for a better place. With recent snow fall I had been keeping an eye on the road conditions the whole week before we set off from Glasgow, but the drive up was pleasantly uneventful. We arrived at the lodge in good time, thanks to the directions provide by Alison, found the key, unloaded the car and we where in for the night. Alison had left wine, and shortbread out for us, and there was milk in the fridge, a really lovely touch. We fired up the various heaters dotted about the lodge and it was lovely and toasty warm in no time. The lodge has everything you would need, a small but well equipped kitchen, central music system, WiFi, Sky-TV, and of course the Sauna and Hot Tub. The weather wasn't great the night of our arrival with high winds and flurries of snow, so we decided not to brave the hot tub that night, but curled up together on the comfortable couch, after a steak dinner, and a bottle of champagne :-) Heaven. The wind was howling around outside but we were cosy and warm in the lodge.

The next day we made a packed lunch and ventured out to explore the area. The private beach was lovely with its own little gazebo and the canoes. The scenery was spectacular with snow capped peaks and the glistening Loch, just a little bracing in the biting wind. So we set off along the road to Kenmore. It's approximately 3.7miles along the Loch from the lodge, which was about an hour an a half walk, at a leisurely pace. Kenmore is lovely, lots of tastefully in-keeping holiday lodges and cottages mixed with the genuine article. We stopped to grab a photo on the Famous Kenmore Bridge, with the Loch and snow capped hills behind, then headed into the warmth of the Kenmore Inn for a few drinks by the fire. The Kenmore Inn is stated to be the Oldest Inn in Scotland and has an original poem hand written by Robert Burns behind a glass pane above the fire. We finished our drinks and set off on the walk back to the lodge (which seemed a lot faster on the way back).

After our long walk the first thing we wanted to do was jump in the sauna and relax. We popped open a bottle of Prosseco and got the sauna up to temperature. Having the music system piped into the sauna was excellent. We just sat in the lovely heat and relaxed. Next we wanted to try the hot tub. The wind had started to pick up again, but the hot tub is sheltered in its little out house so we decided to give it a go. After a brisk run across the deck and lawn we got the cover off the tub and stepped in. The 40 degree heat we very welcome :-) Once we'd worked out the controls and got all the bubbles and jets going it was sheer bliss. The wind was gusting around outside in below zero temperatures, but we were toasty warm and sheltered in our little relaxation bubble. What an experience. After the hot tub we dried off and snuggled up on the couch again to watch a few programs before heading to the most comfortable bed in the world. The wind was insane that night but in the lodge but we were oblivious too it and both slept like logs.

I was a real wrench to pack up and head off the next morning. We'd both loved our time there and were dying for another shot in the hot tub, but had to get back. The drive back to Glasgow, in daylight this time, was lovely. We decide to head along to Tarbert and down the road passed Loch Lomond. The snowy scenery was amazing. All in all and amazing few days.

We are definitely coming back :-)
