“Lovely cottage with friendly owners”
Reviewed 2 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We stayed at the property with family, five adults, two children and two dogs and found our stay to be very enjoyable.

The owners are very friendly and go the extra mile when answering all your queries about their home or surrounding area.

The cottage provides entertainment for the children including a PlayStation, copious amounts of DVD's and board games for the traditional family feel after dinner. The bedrooms were clean (though I have to point out being a cottage, you are often joined by quite a few of the eight legged kind, luckily none were that big that they required their own room, so this was manageable). The back garden came complete with a BBQ which we made use of most nights though sadly the weather didn't always compliment this.

Generally a lovely home and within a reasonable distance of beaches or seaside towns such as Barnstaple or Westward Ho. I would recommend this to any family who are simply looking for a relaxed feel, don't intend on spending lots of money on attractions and just generally want some quality time together.

If I were to give some slightly negative feedback; The water pressure in the kitchen can be most frustrating especially when you have a big group there however the owners had assured us this would be addressed. Also to mention the housekeeper, when we called her to ask about the toilet in the main bathroom (this was challenging at times to flush, being most stubborn to flush at all) was most hostile when she visited the home and sadly didn't carry the same helpful customer care attitude the owners have. There was also washing left all over the out house to as which she advised would have been sorted when we were out, something we didn't find acceptable considering guests rent this property and would expect this to be done prior.

Dear Julie,

Thank you so much for your kind review! I have, at your suggestion, made sure that the low pressure is mentioned in the main description. It seems that Sheepwash as a whole does suffer from this problem and we have involved a plumber to get a bit more pressure in the kitchen, but this is difficult as we have guests staying for the majority of the Summer. As far as the washing goes, again this is now mentioned in the letter that we send out to visitors as, if we have had a large family staying previously, we only have a 5 hour turnaround time making it very difficult to finish all the washing in that time - many apologies to you if this was a problem. We are going to be upgrading much of the cottage over the winter and hope to sort out many of the technical problems then.

We would be delighted to welcome you back next year.

“Lovely, cosy rural cottage for relaxed retreat”
Reviewed 28 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Stayed here recently with our dog and had a wonderful time. The owners made us feel really welcome before we arrived and when we got there the cottage was very well equipped with everything you could need for a self-catered holiday.
The garden is completely enclosed so we felt very happy to let our dog roam inside and out. The dining room is perfect for family meals or board games and the lounge has a lovely log burner making it even cosier. There's a DVD player/ PS3 if you get a rainy day or some garden furniture and BBQ to use if you get lucky with the weather (like we did).
The local pub is dog friendly (book a table at the bar as it gets very busy) and does excellent pub grub at very reasonable prices.
We'd definitely recommend a stay here!
