“A beautiful and revitalising Easter destination”
Reviewed 15 May 2014 for a stay in April 2014

We spent three weeks in Riscle this Easter, it is a beautiful, friendly destination and the perfect place from which to explore Gers, The Pyrenees and perhaps even further afield. This is a large, stunning townhouse in the centre of the town with lots of space, we felt at-home and relaxed instantaneously.

As keen cyclists we covered hundreds of miles, exploring the local towns and vineyards which were really quite special, we also ventured to Lourdes and tackled a couple of the Cols.

If you are looking for the rural french experience but with the convenience of a market on your doorstep and some wonderful restaurants that you can walk to then we highly recommend this destination. A highlight was our meal at Le Pigeonneau, a wonderfully intimate dining experience that was quite priceless.

“The perfect house to enjoy France”
Reviewed 14 May 2014 for a stay in October 2013

Spent 4 weeks at the Vrai Sud and used it as a base to visit Bordeaux, Biarrirtz, and Spain, visit all the local markets and just chillout. If you want to spend a holiday in a traditional French house and small town in France then this is the place to go. Despite my basic French, I managed to get by as the people are so friendly. The local food in the markets is excellent as are the restaurants in the village. We live on the Isle of Mull on the west coast of Scotland and tourists come here for the scenery and the wildlife but let me just say the scenery in this part of France just blew me away.

The house is large and traditional and has all the amenities you will need. Even though it got colder in the latter part of the holiday the oil central heating and the wood pellet stove kept us nice and cosy.

Suzie is an excellent landylady. Very friendly and helpful and was always there when we needed her.

If you want to fall in love with France this is the place to go.

“Fortnight in Riscle”

The House itself is as promised by the website, a clean, unique house with character and room for a family of five to stay together in harmony for two weeks.

Susie is a friendly hostess, cooking a lovely and welcome supper for us to enjoy when we arrived after our long journey. Also when the pool developed an issue, her attention was fantastic with visits morning and night and regular emails passing to and fro.

The house has a folder that is a rich source of suggestions about what to do and guidelines on household issues and this is supplemented by comments in the guestbook.

The rear garden is large enough to lounge around in and enjoy meals in the fresh air. As the sun moves, later in the day, the walls allow for shaded areas to provide the welcome cooler air to chill down when you have been out in the hot sun. The pool is bigger than we expected and is more than adequate for a refreshing dip and was in regular use during our stay.

Riscle is a small town and it's attractions are limited to a handful of restaurants, some local shops, a bull ring and an outdoor swimming pool. We found this ideal for our requirements.

It's location is useful for trips to the Pyrenees and the seaside both of which are two hours drive from the house.

“When you dream of a holiday in rural France, this is the dream you want to be having!”
Reviewed 6 July 2011 for a stay in August 2010

From the moment you start planning your holiday to Le Vrai Sud, you soon realise that this will be special. Suzie, the owner, soon feels like a great friend who happens to have an amazing place for you to stay for your holidays. The property itself is excellent - a beautifully furnished house set in the centre of a friendly, rural village - but what sets this place apart is the personal service which Suzie provides. The usual advice on where to go and what to do is available from her as someone who has lived in Riscle for years, but so are some other great additions to your holiday. For example, Suzie can provide you with an amazing home cooked dinner of local produce and wines in the comfort of your holiday home. A real treat for anyone, especially foodies! We tried this once during our holiday and will definitely be doing it again when we return this summer.

The village itself is very friendly - and very French - which helped our french came on no end and there are plenty of beautiful villages, lakes and day trips nearby. We went last summer with a young family and are returning again this summer.
