One of a number of large, very well equipped log cabins set in woodland with an outlook through trees to a tidal river. Spacious communal living area, eight seat capacity dining adjoining an open planned kitchen. En-suite down stairs bedroom (suitable for disabled) and upstairs bedrooms. Located i some 15 minutes walk to waterside village with two pubs and a gift shop.(Bit of a hill to walk back up from the pub) Nearest amenities a short drive away.Large supermarkets 7 miles drive.
Great dog walking and cycling in the area.

“Beyond expectations!”
Reviewed 24 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

Took this trip with my family and close friends for a three night stay.
The trip was mainly a get together for my 30th and I wasn't disappointed.
The scenery was spectacular and with the golf and mountain biking close by we had plenty to do.
The lodge was very spacious and comfortable with every thing we needed and more. Cozy warm at night and with the large sliding doors it was cool in the day.
Will def visit again and cannot rate it highly enough.

“great location, views and facilities in lodge.”
Reviewed 14 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Lodge was clean and tidy and well set out for all our needs. Nice walk into Kippford for evening meals at one of the two pubs in town. Great views from lodge, enough room for the dog to run around in back garden. Girls enjoyed using the summer room at top of the garden. If you can. you must walk the coastal path from Kippford to Sandyhills. again stunning views. We will be back.

“A second stay which did not dissapoint”
Reviewed 3 April 2014 for a stay in March 2014

We stayed at Gilnockie the same week last year when it was covered in snow. This year was milder with generally good weather.
The accomodation was again of a high standard, very warm and met all our expectations.
The equipment available was the best of any accomodation we have stayed in and that is one of the reasons we return. The other is the location on the Colvend coasts with lovely walks and views and good wild life opportunities.
We again enjoyed visiting our friends and the Red Kite feedings station, but we also discovered the Eskgrigg nature reserve near Lockerbie. Had a fantastic welcome from the reserve warden and some amazing chances to observe and photograph red squirrels, tree creepers and other birds.
The towns of Dalbeatie and Castle Douglas are close by and everyone friendly.
All in all a relaxing few days in a lovely lodge which is well equipped and well placed. It's doggy friendly status means we are very likely to visit again.
Thanks to the owners and caretaker its excellent.

“A family Christmas 2013”
Reviewed 1 January 2014 for a stay in December 2013

We had a lovely cosy Christmas here. 5 of us plus dog. Whilst the lodge is very spacious it would have been nicer to have a slightly larger oven and clothes hooks in the bathroom would have been appreciated. However, the lodge itself is spacious but cosy - my husband loved the log burner. Unfortunately the weather was not too kind but we walked to Kippford most days and would like to explore the area further.
