Review of The Mains of Drum

The Mains of Drum
Ranked #11 of 42 Restaurants in Banchory
Certificate of Excellence
Description: We are a family owned and run Garden Centre set in beautiful landscaped grounds on the A96 between Peterculter and Banchory just beside the village of Drumoak. Since opening in 2009, we have now become a superior shopping destination on Royal Deeside for not only beautiful plants and all things for the garden, but have also created an award winning giftware department too. We pride ourselves on giving a personal service and delivering beyond expectations every time and remain Scotland's only Five Star Garden Centre.

My husband and myself had lunch here after visiting Drum Castle. The restaurant is very large and very clean. The food we had was lovely. We both had piping hot Vegetable soup with bread, my husband then had a cheese scone with butter and I had a fruit and cinnamon scone with butter and raspberry jam. We both had glasses of water which were self service from containers, one of which just had plain water, the other had lemon slices added. We had the lemon water which was very refreshing. The restaurant was very busy but the staff were very efficient and did not seem to be harassed.

Very nice location, plenty of parking, shopping, excellent food and beverage options - plus the ability to pickup items such as gifts, packaged food items, clothing and more.

I had lunch here today with friends and the place was going like a fair. We hadn't booked so were lucky to get the last table in the restaurant. Service was slow but the food was could. Curried parsnip and Cullen Skink soups followed by Brie and chutney paninis with our other friend had bacon, tomato and Mozzarella panini. Portions are large so no room for dessert. When we asked for the bill we waited at least ten minutes for it to arrive so allow plenty of time if you visit.

Hello Judiespoons,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review, however I believe there has been a little mix up! On May Day we didn't serve parsnip soup, and the paninis mentioned are not on our menu. We are also a self-service restaurant where you pay before being seated, so no need to wait for a bill.
I hope you pop in to us sometime and try our Restaurant.

Kind regards,
Emma

This is a popular garden centre and gift shop with restaurant. There is a wide range of food but we opted for coffee and a rocky road which were good. More staff to clear tables would have been good.

Went to celebrate an anniversary & thoroughly enjoyed our meal of fish 'n' chips. Choice of meals are huge but we both chose what we always enjoy. The staff are lovely & it's always so enjoyable to eat there. Always plenty of space to sit.
