“5th visit, still a great place to chill out”
Reviewed 6 January 2017 for a stay in January 2017

A converted chapel so lots of character with lots of great features that make your stay entertaining and different from the usual rental properties.

The location is remote but the size of the property and the facilities mean it's perfect for a family get-together where you take out the BBQ and enjoy a drink or two rather than using it as a base/place to sleep.

This year we sampled the new fibre broadband which is a huge improvement on the old rural BT service with a good signal / throughput (we could stream music/videos).

The garden is huge for a rental property and the owners have gone to a good amount of effort to make the gardens interesting and well kept. There is a stream running through the foot of the garden so common sense is required with young children. That said the garden is so large that I would recommend keeping an eye on small children at all times.

Whilst the property is on the main road you never hear any vehicles (there seems to be next to no traffic which isn't a surprise given the location).

Across the road (next to house number 8 - turn right once behind the houses) there is access to a bridel way that runs for approximately 4 miles and roughly follows the road back to the A69. For the first two miles it is definitely pram friendly even in winter. The next couple of miles may also prove pram friendly in summer.
You can get almost to the next village but the last half mile will need to be on the road.

“Wonderful property - A Super Holiday”
Reviewed 6 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

Staying at The Old Country Chapel was fantastic. The house is large, well laid out and has everything required for a very pleasant stay. We enjoyed the dining area, spacious living room, comfortable bedrooms, huge garden and, of course, the games garage!

Situated in a quiet spot with nearby Brampton and Carlisle we had plenty of day trips and lots to do. Walks on the South Tyne Trail and Hadrians Wall were fantastic (even in December) and visiting Carlisle Castle and old Roman forts was impressive and informative.

Would not hesitate to recommend.

“Overall a great cottage, very well equipped”
Reviewed 31 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

The cottage was great and well equipped. The games in the garage were very appreciated and a huge DVD collection. The owners left good information on the cottage and area. However we were disappointed that the cottage was on the road and not more secluded. The road was quiet though. Also, from the pictures we were expecting the garden to be private but unfortunately were overlooked by the neighbours. Also, the garden was quite boggy so playing on the grass was a bit difficult. That being said, it was a lot of cottage for the money, grounds were lovely and the owners have taken a lot of thought to ensure there are lots of things to do no matter what the weather.

“Perfect”
Reviewed 1 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

My family & I stayed here for 2 nights over the weekend,The Chapel had everything we could have possibly needed. The games room in the garage was great for the two teenage boys & also the adults made full use of it.The very large DVD collection on a night was very handy as we played on the family DVD quiz games. The courtesy call from the owners was handy incase of any problems, wifi was best in the kitchen area.Only problem we had was that the Chapel has no sign on it,so we drove past it & had to ask a passer-by,but this is just a little niggle & I'm sure anyone that stays here will love every part of it from the chapel, large grounds, summer house, games room & all the other added extras that are provided.
Plenty of places to visit, part of our group enjoyed a day at the South Lakes Zoo,which was just over an hour away,(which is free for children up to the age of 15)?Overall we all enjoyed our weekend & would recommend this to everyone
