We had dinner with friends.

Menu was varied and there was a good choice. Food was well presented, warm and tasty.

Prices were reasonable for both food and drinks.

The restaurant was very busy but service was efficient and friendly,

The evening was somewhat marred both for us and several other tables by the noise emanating from a table of five women (I hesitate to refer to them as "ladies"). I understand that people want to have a good time and that can create some noise but the volume from that table was, quite frankly, outrageous. We commented upon it to our waitress twice and she told us that other tables had also complained BUT nobody did anything about it. What was needed was for the manager/manageress to have a word and ask the women to please keep the volume down a bit.

There is plenty of parking opposite the pub (though itnis not very well lit).

Would we return? Maybe (but not if that table of five women were in evidence!).

We wanted to visit a real English Pub and this fitted the bill. The food we had was amazing and the service and friendliness of the staff was first class.

About 20 of us rocked up for our Annual Christmas dinner. We had a large table with our own little bar. The staff were great and couldn't do enough to help.

My Spicey Butternet Squash Soup was excellent. The Turkey dinner sublime and even the small Christmas Pud was great. All topped off with 'Lizzies' mince pies and coffee.

The Malbec was excellent as well. A great atmosphere in the pub kept the evening flowing till the end. Even managed to get a cab home in 10 minutes.

Will certainly be back soon.

BTW they serve a lovely pint of Harvey's Best.

Thank Steve B

We met here for a family lunch and really enjoyed ourselves. A busy pub/restaurant with a constant flow of customers. The menu was varied and good value for money. Service was good and staff were attentive. Ample parking outside and accessible throughout for the less mobile. References to Winston Churchill throughout the pub as he was a local in his later years.

I have reviewed here before when we hadn't booked and sat in the pub area in the back which , to me, was dark and soulless. However, twice now we have been in the restaurant area which is bright and well decorated so have enjoyed the meal so much more. Food is very good in gastro pub style but still something there for the traditionalists like my father. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend the restaurant where the 5 stars are well deserved.
