“Very Clean & we were well looked after”
Reviewed 4 November 2011

Stayed at the Wimslow on 2 occasions whilst on Business in Morecambe, both times accompanied by my wife. Dave & Paula the owners, are good hosts and very attentive. I can only speak for room 10 because we stayed in it on both visits. It is a very modern and clinically clean room with a huge on-suite shower room and Toilet. The public areas are very tidy and clean as is the comfortable Breakfast room that overlooks the Bay. Breakfast is well cooked and nicely presented. For those wishing to bring evening food back, Paula lays out plates, cutlery and napkins in the Inner hallway for the use of (Nice touch!).
10 min walk into town. Promenade is in front of the Hotel, overall great location.
I give the B&B 4 out of 5, the lost mark is nothing to do with the Wimslow or the Hosts, but on the basis that we have only ever given full marks to the Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai and the Florida Mall Hotel in Orlando. I'm not sure if any other 'same catagory' B&B in Morecambe would attain MY 4 stars!
Keep it up D&P!!!

Last time we stayed, we were impressed with the friendliness of the owners - Paula and Dave, the cleanliness of the Wimslow and the breakfasts. One of us is a vegetarian and the other not, but the breakfasts served to us were both equally very good. As a previous reviewer commented, the granary toast is great. We were also pleased to note that the cooked breakfasts were not swimming in grease like others we have experienced in the past.
This time we has the pleasure of staying in one of the newly refurbished rooms. All the comments from our previous stay regarding the friendly and helpful owners, spotlessly clean rooms, great breakfasts and fab views from the dining room and guest lounge are still true. The room was fresh and bright with a good range of furniture and a comfy bed. The ensuite was spacious, clean and light with a big corner shower and complimentary toiletries.
Paula and Dave do a great job and should be proud of the welcome their guests receive from them. Anyone looking to stay in Morecambe should check out the Wilmslow. It is great value for money but nothing about the place is cheap.

Room Tip: The Wilmslow has ground floor rooms if you are not very mobile

I'm Blushing! Dave and I are working hard towards bringing our grand old victorian pile up to date without losing the character. I'm glad you like our improvements and rest assured we have not finished yet. We love looking after folk at breakfast and we will only put in front of our guests what we are happy to eat ourselves (I'm watching the old waistline at the mo as a result of too much quality control -LOL). Best wishes, Paula

What a wonderfull hotel this is Paula & Dave were very friendly & helpfull. The bedrooms were lovely& clean as was the rest of the rooms the bathroom was big as was the shower, not a porky thing like we have been in before. Breakfast was very good, we have stayed in alot of hotels in Morcambe but this is the best. We were booked in for two nights but stayed for three. Will be back next year for the Tuttie Fruittie wk end if not before.

We were welcomed by Dave and Paula on arrival with a pot of tea and a friendly chat,we had never met them before but we felt as though we were meeting old friends. We are cyclists and vegetarians so we needed safe storage for our cycles and a special diet , all our needs were met .The room was clean and spacious with the usual tea and coffee making facilities but with a little bonus of packets of biscuits. The breakfast was well prepared using quality products ie HP sauce not the cheap catering pack and quality bread, the brown multigrain toast was delicious.Lovely views across the bay from the dining room.Excellent value .

We get some super folk through - these chaps were no exception and are the reason we get so much pleasure from running our guesthouse. We will always try and do our best for anyone with special dietry requirements if we get advanced notice as these lovely folk gave us. We now have a new bike store to put the bikes in so if you are going to be peddling through again give us a bell!

Having stayed at the Wimslow several times before with the previous proprietors, we expected our stay to be a good one. I cannot fault the hotel nor its surroundings but find the new owners to be rather self righteous and plain rude. I can say that after this visit, my family and I will be looking into a more welcoming place to stay.

We were not suprised by this review. After 2 years of wonderful guests passing through our doors this is the 1st negative we have had. We do know why this review was posted...... Please read our other reviews. Enough said.
