After scouring TripAdvisor for somewhere to eat around Horley we found that most restaurants closed around 3pm and didn't open u til 6pm, I really wanted to eat about 3.30pm so we chose this restaurant, we Sat outside which is a beautiful setting right next to a river with a beautiful willow tree hanging over it, we had a Drink then decided to order our food, which was Starters,Pate and the Lamb koftas which took about 30 mins to arrive not a good start, there were various tables that weren't clean and they still had plates, cups and glasses that hadn't been cleared away it wasn't even busy, after the starters which was quite nice,we patiently waited for our mains still after another 40 mins our empty plates were still there so I went in to ask where our mains was,the waiter went into the kitchen and hey presto out he came with the food!! We had ordered 1 steak sandwich 4oz rare, 1 8oz steak sandwich blue, at no point did a waiter ask if everything was ok neither did he offer us any condiments or sauces, both sandwiches was exactly the same 4oz and rare but also cold and smothered in horseradish sauce, I went inside to give feedback to the manager and said it was the worst experience of my day, there was no check back on the food, the service was slow the food was cold, the manager stated they only employed bare staff throughout lunch as we don't take much money here so my reply was"if your service was better then you might take more money" "and also improve the quality of your food because at the moment it is crap. I asked for a refund to which he gave me the amount for the mains.I will not be going back to this pub.

They love dogs! This is a huge bonus when you are out walking the dog and want to stop for a drink or food. Food is good - especially the Sunday roasts. Definitely worth a visit.

We used to be a regular visitor, but it's been a few years since we last ate there. Visited on a Monday lunchtime without pre-booking. The pub was fairly busy but they did easily accommodate us.

Arrival is a little confusing as, as far as I could see, there was only one small sign asking you to wait to be seated, that could easily be obscured by someone standing at the bar, We did observe at least two other diners who just chose an empty table and then had to be retrieved by a waiter.

So we hung around in no mans land, for three or four minutes, until a waiter came and took us to a table and left us with the menus.

After choosing our meals the waiter took our order, but returned shorty after to say that both of the meals we had ordered were not available. Before choosing an alternative we asked if anything else was off. The waiter disappeared for about 5 minutes before returning to inform of two other items that were not available. The triple cooked chips that were a featured item in many of the menu items were not available and thin "Skin-on" fries were being offered instead.

After choosing our 2nd choice of meals, these arrived in good time and were very tasty, although the crushed new potatoes had only been lazily crushed with many still whole.

As I said, the meal was good, but it is really annoying to spend time choosing a meal and then looking forward to it, only to then be told you can't have it. The waiter really should have told us about the unavailable items when he handed us the menus, but instead he wasn't even aware,

Hopefully this was just a glitch and we will likely visit again,

Really innovative menu at a sensible price everything we had was really cooked well and a pleasure to eat.Unfortunately the front of house was not a pleasant person and let the side down. Also the pub/restaurant is a little tired and the service wasnt great.

What a disappointment! Lovely pub, wonderful method of booking using your key pad, many staff trying to cope with impossible circumstances of a full pub and a wedding. The front of house staff were as helpful as possible but the resultant wait of an hour while the full pub watched many plates of food disappear to the wedding party, cloudy bottom of the barrel beer and fried food saturated in oil was not a pleasant experience. I note there have been similar recent comments. Come on Mitchell & Mitchell get your act together. You are spoiling a wonderful asset.
