We were warmly greeted and taken to our room. The room was of a good size with tea tray, large plasma etc. The lighting was very poor. The voile curtains did not meet in the middle so one had to un/dress in the daytime with the blinds closed. The radiator was very erratic and was often on when we didn't need it but first thing in the morning it was off so the room was quite cold. The building is very old and a lot can be forgiven but the room and ensuite are tired and could be spruced up. However the bed was comfy with nice linen and although the hotel is on the main road we had a very good night's sleep. A good choice of hot food at breakfast time but their continental leaves a lot to be desired. Croissants, yogurt, cereals and a bowl of fruit. Personally I do like cheeses and ham etc and perhaps being rather lazy I do like a fruit salad. Their orange juice would appear to be very cheap. Unfortunately when we returned to the room on the second evening we found that the room hadn't been touched from the night before so we had to make our bed before we got into it. However a deduction was taken off our bill because of this. The tariff for two night's B&B is £200 mid week. We did not feel that this was particularly good value for money but perhaps this is a normal rate for that particular area.

Dear Sldraper,

Thank you for your review, we are really pleased that you found most aspects of your stay enjoyable. I was made aware that the room had not been serviced and unfortunately this was an oversight that should not have occurred. I do hope that the reduction in the room rate went some way in a good will gesture. In relation to breakfast, we do offer a continental breakfast or a cooked breakfast with your stay, we will always try to accommodate your wishes for breakfast and if you do stay another time then please let us know if you fancy something different, and we will be more than happy to help!

Thank you for your review and we will take on board your points and hope to welcome you again.

Kind regards,

The Angel Inn.

We were waiting to check into our hotel and thought we would grab something to eat (late lunch). We went to The Angel Inn, it’s changed a little since we last visited.
We couldn’t get to the bar as there were 2 couples sitting there, when we were eventually served, we asked for an ale- which was straight from the barrel and a soft drink, we also asked whether it was possible to get any food. It wasn’t and we told we were too late (2pm), instead we asked if we could just grab some crisps, no crisps but we could go and get some from Tesco’s opposite and eat them!!!
The ale was dreadful and the Diet Coke with flat.
I don’t think we will bother again, if these simple things can’t be right, I doubt anything else will be.

We visited The Angel about 4 years ago and liked it, so we returned, being in the area. The restaurant for evening meal and breakfast was great. Good food, perfectly cooked and presented. A hotel with lots of character, but because of it's age, it seems like keeping it in good shape is a bit of a challenge. However, we were made very welcome. The bathroom radiator wasn't working, even after several attempts at repair, so eventually we were given another room and some recompense, which was much appreciated. Both rooms were very comfortable and we enjoyed our stay. Would go again

Room Tip: Look over the road, so noisier (but a country town, not a city) but interesting or look over the car park, so quiet but less interesting

Met with various members of the family for an Easter lunch. We came here for our honeymoon many moons ago, so it was lovely to come back for a lunch. Ambience was perfect, staff attentive, very helpful as one of the family is wheelchair bound with a hearing dog, and all was accommodated. We had a long lunch, having not got together for over six months, and there was no pressure to leave and give up our table.

This hotel is located on a main road through Midhurst, convenvenient to walk to anywhere within the town and a good base for country walks. The visit took place during the cold early February. The suite comprised bedroom, sitting room and en-suite. The building, or parts of it date back to c15 so not surprising full of character . The downside of being in such a historic building is that there is a limit to the structural work that can be carried out as a result the heating in the room was old and totally inadequate for the size of rooms - supplementary heating was supplied and this allowed the room to be maintained at a comfortable temperature.
The bar area had been recently redecorated, done with extreme care and sympathy, it presented a warm comfortable setting for just a drink, a lunch or dinner and equally comfortable for breakfast.
The staff members were all professional, friendly and helpful, always ready to discuss the building, the town and other locations worthy of a visit.
The only real negative could be the main road, though the secondary glazing helped reduce road noise it remained constant with the road being very noisy at peak periods.
Would I stay at this hotel again? YES without hesitation.

Dear Madam

what a lovely review.........Thank you , we are so pleased to hear your stay was comfortable.
it also makes us very happy to read you understand the building!
we are restricted on what we can do with regards to building work, we are very sympathetic to the building as its grade listed.

we welcome you back anytime !

best wishes
