“A wonderful family break”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 January 2012

We stayed with our two small children at the Elmfield over New Year 2012. Despite the miserable weather that would have made any family holiday torture, we all had a wonderful time. Mostly helped by the warm welcome of Zoe & Matt who are great hosts. The house itself has a great charm to it, the rooms are cosy, lovely furnished and well kept. There is a great play room for the kids with a huge choice of toys for any age. Adjacent to it is a comfortable lounge for adults to relax around a cosy fire. If the toy room runs out of novelty value, there is always the heated pool to visit or a movie to watch. Endless kids entertainment. Don't miss to visit the 'Playhut' by the Tunnel Beaches if your kids need to burn off further energy (during rainy days). Matt & Zoe have a great list of local eateries which are all worth a visit. Most notably the Gendarmerie for a romantic candle light gourmet treat (Zoe has a lovely baby sitter on hand) or the Rock Inn for great quality gastro pub food in a kids friendly environment. Loved our stay! Big thanks to Zoe & Matt. PS: Zoe cooks up a mean breakfast that's worth alone a trip back.

We stayed at the Elmfield Hotel on the 22-23 May this year. There were a number of aspects that made this stay a very pleasant experience. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well presented. The owners Matt and Zoe could not have been more helpful, taking time to tell us about the local area, recommending places to eat and where to visit during our stay. The honesty bar is a very relaxing, well stocked and a great place to have a refreshment at the start your evening.

We had breakfast on both mornings, again well presented and quite simply was the perfect way to start the day. I can definitely recommend the pancakes and fruit compote, followed by the full English breakfast...

On the first day we went for a walk along the coast towards Barnstable, When Zoe heard we were heading out for a ramble, she returned a few minutes later with a few bottles of water to save us having to walk the wrong direction into town first to buy our own. A small, but very appreciative gesture which sums up how much attention is devoted to the guests who stay at this quaint and friendly hotel.

Overall a wonderful stay, I would thoroughly recommend this beautiful little hotel. A real pleasure, I will be visiting again next spring.

The Elmfield is tucked away at the top of a hill with a an access drive. Plenty of parking.
I stayed 3 nights at the Elmfield in a lovely 4 poster bed. Rooms were very clean. Matt and Zoe were very keen to help out in anything you ask for, very friendly. Breajfast was very good and lots of it. A very nice place to stay. Recommended for business and family or just a quick getaway..

Just got back from a lovely weekend break at The Elmfield (our 2nd visit). What we like best is how welcoming it is for children, with games area and the pool (which the kids absolutely love), but it still manages to keep that adult, slightly pampered feel. Our family suite was great. Rooms were a good size, with separate tv's and bathroom facilities.
Zoe and Matt were most welcoming and the breakfasts (as mentioned in many of the other reviews) were wonderful!
