Review of Dinosaur Isle

Dinosaur Isle
Ranked #5 of 18 things to do in Sandown
More attraction details
Attraction details
Owner description: In a spectacular pterosaur shaped building watching over Sandown’s blue flag beach is Britain’s first purpose built dinosaur museum. Walk back through fossilised time to the period of the dinosaurs where you will find amongst the fossils many interactive displays. On a recreated landscape enhanced by sights, smells and sounds you will meet life sized dinosaurs including our animatronic Neovenator. Guided fossil hunts (which must be pre-booked) have proved to be a popular addition to a visit.

Despite being quite small (reflected in the low admission price), there is so much to do here! You learn all about many different dinosaurs - those that used to live around here, as well as many other species from around the world.
If you’re taking little ones, there is plenty to keep them entertained - from archaeological digs to colouring and interactive displays.
If you’re visiting he Isle of Wight and haven’t been to Dinosaur Isle, it is a must!

it's not huge but there was a lot of fascinating facts there. the kids loved learning about the dinosaurs and looking at the joining in with the activities such as creating their own dinosaur, crayon rubbing, pressing the buttons for the interactive dinosaurs and brushing the sand away to reveal the fossils. lots of fun learning activities and things to do while there however I probably won't visit again this year but will probably go back in a few years when the kids are a bit older. great activity for a rainy day. we were probably there for a few hours so it's not an all day thing. would be better if they had somewhere to get a cup of tea or coffee inside.

A fairly dry subject presented well but could be livelier! Lots of information here too about the local history connections with the dinosaur world...
