This is a lovely place - focused (as the name suggests) on animals of the Amazon. There are lots of reptiles, small cats and monkeys to see.
It’s informative and great to learn about the conservation of the rainforest. There are lots of free flying birds and talks by the staff.
Parking is free and there is a little cafe and a play park for the little ones. The cafe is only small, which is a little disappointing but it has lots of dinosaurs around it, which the little one loved!

Amazon World - a place full of animals from the Amazon? Wrong! We first visited this place pre children about 15 years ago and were very impressed with the variety of species and the way it was presented. Fast forward to present day and we visited yesterday with our two children aged 12 and 8.

Unfortunately my husband and I were very disappointed. After trying to avoid some of the massive potholes in the car park and a long wait in the queue, it cost a shade over £40 for a family ticket. We were out after 1.5 hours. That included eating our picnic very slowly to try and prolong the visit.

Unfortunately the centre appears to have jumped on the commercial bandwagon with meerkats, lemurs and other non South American animals. Whilst I appreciate it is trying to convey the environmental rainforest message, given the name of the place (meerkats - desert?), it seems to have no bearing on what is there. I understand meerkats and lemurs look fluffy and cuddly but the centre is not being true to itself.

Many of the enclosures have a list at the end (or none at all) of the species in that particular cage but it would be helpful to have the signage closer by. In the darker night time rooms, there was plenty of information boards but they were not lit at all. It does ask for you to wait for your eyes to become accustomed to the dark but it was still difficult to read the boards. If you are trying to educate then surely the messages must be readable. Low level lighting over the information boards would suffice.

The kids enjoyed themselves but we were left disappointed. Not a place I would rush back to at all.

went to amazon world and came out a bit disappointed , its not very big and went around twice otherwise I would have been back out in about an hour , glass house with some birds ,few tanks with reptiles and outside ocelot , tapir , meerkats , red panda ,penguins and lemurs. Staff friendly , enclosures clean and animals look in good health.

What a lovely little zoo. Loved the fact that you could feed some of the animals as we were going around.
