Lovely house, quality furnishings in bedrooms, charming dining room and excellent breakfasts. Just on the edge of Ramsey and only a couple of minutes walk from the beach the location is ideal. The bus stop to Douglas is just outside the guesthouse. Plenty of leaflets available of local attractions and bus timetables. Ally is a charming hostess and makes you feel very welcome. Excellent value. Looking forward to visiting again.

The Thorncliffe is located about 15 mins walk out of Ramsey. However there's a bus stop right outside on the Ramsey to Douglas route, and the electric railway stops nearby. (No trains and few buses in the evening, though.)

Our room was fairly small but smart, clean and comfortable, although being at the back it looked onto blank walls and had no view. The plus side of this was that it was quiet!

We received a very warm welcome and breakfast was good.

Ramsey itself is a strange place. It's a good base for exploring the northern part of the island, including Laxey and Curragh wildlife park. However the town has a very run down appearance (although not at all threatening). The pubs weren't serving evening meals on the nights we were there, and the chippy was being refurbished, so it cost us quite a lot to eat out in more up market places - although the meals were good.

The Thorncliffe's location near transport services makes it a good base for travelling out of Ramsey to places that are more interesting!

6 of us went to the ManxGP and had 3 rooms, it was the best we have stayed in (stayed in Douglas and Port Erin before). The attention to detail and cleaniless of the rooms was brilliant, the hospitality also was a rarity. Long may Ali and Andre continue! This is the standard that others on the IOM should aspire to achieve.

We stayed for 2 nights as we completed the 98 mile coastal walk. The welcome from Alli was very friendly and warm. The room was very bright and airy and spotlessly clean. Very comfortable bed. The location close to the electric railway and on the coastal path was perfect for walking. Alli went out of her way to help us and has a genuine commitment to making guests comfortable. Lovely breakfast which set us up for a day's walking. Excellent value for money- I would recommend this Band B with no reservation

Our first trip to the IOM we chose the Thorncliffe on the basis of previous reviews on trip advisor. Everyone was right, an excellent guest house Alli and Andre were very welcoming and made us feel right at home. Our room was spotless everything you would need en suite TV tea kettle etc. The bed was so comfortable and a decent breakfast. If you’re thinking of going to the IOM go it's a fantastic place and stay at the Thorncliffe you won't regret it.
