The Thorncliffe is located about 15 mins walk out of Ramsey. However there's a bus stop right outside on the Ramsey to Douglas route, and the electric railway stops nearby. (No trains and few buses in the evening, though.)
Our room was fairly small but smart, clean and comfortable, although being at the back it looked onto blank walls and had no view. The plus side of this was that it was quiet!
We received a very warm welcome and breakfast was good.
Ramsey itself is a strange place. It's a good base for exploring the northern part of the island, including Laxey and Curragh wildlife park. However the town has a very run down appearance (although not at all threatening). The pubs weren't serving evening meals on the nights we were there, and the chippy was being refurbished, so it cost us quite a lot to eat out in more up market places - although the meals were good.
The Thorncliffe's location near transport services makes it a good base for travelling out of Ramsey to places that are more interesting!More
