The local area is quiet area with access to lovely coastal walks. My family (3 adults, a teenager and our dog) stayed in flat 6 which was spacious, clean and comfortable. Prior to booking, the owner made clear that flat 6 looks out on the car park, however we were welcome to use the beautifully tended garden, which has stunning sea views. This wasn't an issue for us because we used the accommodation as a base but I noted that tables, chairs and additional play equipment (badminton, small football goal and swing ball) was set up in the garden, which I thought was a nice touch. The flat had everything required for a comfortable stay with a spacious, fully functioning kitchen, large and airy main bedroom and WiFi, which kept the teenagers happy. It was also very handy having a laundry room, with two washing machines and two tumble dryers and also a clothes line. We had a lovely week and would definitely consider booking again.
Great location. Garden Flat spacious and ideal for family. Great garden and views. Good wifi. Highly recommended.
We rented apt 6 at short notice for a family break in the IOW. The apartment was clean and fine for our needs as a party of two adults and three children aged between 5 and 14.
We knew in advance that the apartment had no views to speak of but the outlook from the kitchen window on to a carport wasn't ideal. The bathroom was clean but the shower wasn't great. It was very hard to keep the water at the right temperature.
There was a bit of a musty smell in the apartment which the owners had tried to disguise by using plug in air fragarances. We unplugged this as we preferred the slightly musty smell! The owner was helpful and called in to check we were ok. I would probably stay here again but would choose a different apartment. I think others have been modernised to a better standard.
Stayed at Woodcliffe apartment one for a week with two toddlers and a best mate. Perfect location, amazing views and great hospitality. Ventnor is a quaint little beach side town with many hidden crook and crannies to explore. Near by towns also very quaint and a must see like Shanklin, Sandown and Niton. Accomodation was perfect for the family plus one without feeling boxed in. Older apartment but immaculately clean and well maintained. Evenings in felt like a holiday on its own ! Other reviews mentioned the carpark - absolutely no worries with children playing on massive grassed area which has magnificent views of the sea. Absolutely no downsides to this accomodation and the area. A beautiful place to visit I would guess anytime of year. Made so much more by the exceptional value for money accomodation offered at Woodcliffe !
We were looking for somewhere that was suitable for 3 adults (one elderly) and which would also accommodate two dogs. Communication prior to booking was excellent as I had quite a few questions and couldn't initially confirm exact dates due to waiting on a decision on time off from work. Bryce quoted me for a week and also for a short break. Once we had confirmed our booking we paid the deposit via Bank transfer, with the balance being due two weeks before the start of our holiday.
Due to me having to work on the Friday before Xmas we had to book an evening crossing and ferry. We were told the property would be unlocked, could arrive whenever and it would be ready when we arrived. We had no issues finding the property but be aware that the drive is fairly steep with a tight bend. But my husband managed to negotiate it, even towing a trailer in the dark!
The apartment we stayed in was on the ground floor (part of a block of four) and had two bedrooms, one with a double and one with twin beds. The kitchen was separate from the lounge / diner which was perfect for us as we could leave our dogs in this area overnight (naturally they aren't allowed in bedrooms). Floors were wooden/laminate which made sweeping up and hoovering up dog hair so much easier (a hoover was supplied). The bedrooms were carpeted with plenty of storage and hanging space for clothes.
Some nice touches included a bottle of prosecco left chilling in the fridge (thank you), hand wash, toilet rolls, washing up liquid, air freshener in the bathroom, jigsaw puzzles (although we didn't do any) and DVDs. There were also lots of tourist information leaflets and info on attractions in a drawer as well as an Information Folder. We found the apartment very spacious, very clean and decorated to a very good standard. It was also well equipped with a variety of crockery, dishes, wine glasses etc. We were able to park our car outside the door leading into the property via the kitchen and French doors opened from the lounge into the gardens from which you could also see the sea. It was very relaxing to witness a sunrise over the water in the morning and we were fortunate in that we had good weather. The apartment was warm and electric and heating was included in the rental price.
Ventnor isn't far but I'd recommend driving as there isn't a footpath (not that we could see) directly from the bottom of the drive. Considering the time of year, quite a few places seemed to be open - Ventnor itself was heaving on Boxing Day as we drove through but I think there had been a Boxing Day swim. We visited Sandown, Cowes and Bonchurch. We were also lucky enough to arrive at Compton Bay to witness a lovely sunset towards the end of our week.
One thing we would suggest, which isn't a criticism, is that of a couple of good, sharp knives. My husband has worked in hospitality and as a chef and he really struggled cutting veg and prepping meat with the knives supplied. We ended up buying a couple of sharp knives from Morrison's at Lake. It would also benefit from a mop/squeegee for the kitchen. I managed as best as I could to wipe over the floor using the bucket (with some disinfectant and a J Cloth) to keep it clean from boots and dog paws.
I'd certainly recommend and stay here again, and for anyone wondering how long it takes from the ferry terminal - it took us about 40 mins from East Cowes.
Oh, and we weren't charged any extra for our dogs! That's a big bonus in my book. Thanks for a lovely relaxing Xmas break.
