“Fantastic quirky cottage with lots of charm!”
Reviewed 31 October 2014 for a stay in October 2014

We have just returned from our short stay at the Albury cottage. We had a lovely time! Elaine made us feel so welcome! Our little boy loved the pumpkin which was left for us to carve! Perfect for a family with young children, this cottage offers a great base! The beach is a short walk away (buckets, spades, fishing nets are all available!) The welcome hamper was excellent, no need to go shopping when we arrived! We thoroughly enjoyed our short time there and will definitely return in the future! Thank-you Elaine!

We stayed here for four nights in September. The Aldbury is a lovely place, well appointed and very homely. The parking place was a terrific bonus. The welcome hamper was wonderful and the cottage was very clean. It is ideally placed to walk to the seafront and the town. We would recommend this property to anybody.

“A real home from home”

Me and a friend stayed at the Albury SC Cottage for a long weekend with our dogs. The cottage and its location exceeded expectations. Elaine catered for our every need from doggie towels, blankets and treats to a fabulous hamper containing everything we needed for a lovely breakfast every morning and even a bottle of sparkling wine. The Cottage was tastefully decorated and had everything we needed and more. A double bedroom with en suite and the second with two single beds and a sink. Toilet and bathroom downstairs, lovely entrance area to clean up dirty dogs! DVD, WIFI too many things to mention. The attention to detail was remarkable. We loved our stay and it was so convenient for the beach, the theatre, and the old town which is as pretty as a picture postcard with its thatched cottages and lovely pubs and restaurants. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage and we will no doubt stay here again in the future. A big thank you to Elaine for doing such a good job to make her accommodation so inviting and pleasurable to stay in. Check out the Sunday Night Shanklin Ghost Walk, which is great fun!

“Nice cottage in a good location”

Lovely welcome from Elaine, including a generous food hamper and a birthday cake for my daughter which was very kind.
Overall clean except kitchen floor which was filthy. On the first day, my children's feet got completely black after walking on it, also, when i wiped up spillages on the floor my cloth came up covered in dirt.
Pretty terrace at front, and the lounge and bedrooms were lovely, but the upstairs shower was of very poor quality.
Parking space not satisfactory, it is very narrow, and there is no drop kerb so every time we had to access the drive the bottom of our car smashed down on the kerb with a loud thump, not good.
Wifi pretty much non-existent.
Shanklin is a lovely place to stay for a family. And the location of the cottage was great for both the town and the beach.
Overall an enjoyable experience.

Management Response
4 Sep 2014
Thank you very much for your kind review, I am very glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at The Albury Cottage and Shanklin. I am very sorry and surprised to hear that you felt the kitchen floor was not as clean as you would expect, as I cleaned the floor prior to your arrival by hand using anti-bacterial cleaner. I am not sure what your comments with reference to the shower mean? As for the narrow parking area, all guests are advised prior to their stay that there is a width restriction, however we have had large vans parked in the drive on several occasions without any problem. Wi-fi can be a problem in the area, which is why there is booster in the cottage and the wi-fi is free.

“Great location”
Reviewed 20 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

Stayed at the Albury yet again (3rd time) and it gets better each time.
Since my last say in Aug the garden area and front has been improved so there is a little garden area to sit in
The whole place is clean and very well presented and the location is ideal with the shops around one corner and the beach at the end of the road
Already booked for August this year
Would highly recommend the Albury and often do
