We stayed as a family of 10 with 6 adults and four young children. The owner was very helpful prior to our stay- she called me for a chat after my initial enquiry, answered all questions promptly and booked the ferries for us.
We had a great holiday but have some reservations about the five star description. Although not filthy, the property was not as clean as it should have been eg oven door, kitchen floor, kitchen bins, cobwebs behind some furniture etc.
There was no fire extinguisher or fire blanket; we could not find the first aid kit; we had to ask for extra hand towels and tea towels; the dishwasher took ages to fathom out how to programme and then didn't work very well, so be prepared for a lot of washing up; there was no fixed stair gate at the top of the stairs nor on the stairs down to the lower lounge; there are gaps in the sides of the glass or perspex panels between the top and bottom lounges- these gaps are big enough for a toddler or crawling baby to fall through so it is not suitable for very young children.
All the kitchen appliances are electric and beep a lot- cooker when you put anything on it, fridge when you are putting things away etc. which became a it annoying! As well as the dishwasher, the cooker and microwave took a bit of working out. There is a good set of kitchen knives (always important in self catering) but only two wooden chopping boards, so take your own plastic ones. There's a variety of crockery and cutlery, but you will need plastic bags and cling film and foil, or take plastic boxes with lids for fridge storage.
Big fridge, freezer and ice machine and good washing machine and tumble dryer in separate utility room. Also drying rack which works well in the downstairs sitting room, with windows shut and fans off, as it is very hot in there!
The bedrooms comprise- a huge double with two single futons and a large ensuite with shower. A smaller double with no ensuite but with a large family bathroom with bath and shower. A small twin with no ensuite. We put a futon mattress in here for a little person. A double with a single futon and a small ensuite with shower.
Downstairs is a toilet, hallway with seating and TV, although this became our storage and dumping ground. Kitchen diner with circular table with six chairs but space for three more which can be brought up from lower seating area. Kitchen with two bar chairs at the island, utility room with separate washing machine and tumble dryer (bring your own washing powder), large sitting room (with gaps in panels mentioned above); lower seating area also with fans, woodburner and table and chairs. This became our children's activity table.
There are books for adults and children and some games and jigsaws.
The photos on the website were taken a while ago. The bbq is now in a separate covered area on the top of the patio, near the hot tub (which is not on the photos) and the hedge is now at least twice the height it is in the photos, so nobody can look over from the path into the woods. Where the car is parked on the photo here, there is now an out building and door through to the garden.
We loved the pool and the hot tub though and may consider returning in the future.
We would recommend it but if we return we would know what to expect.
Just spent family holiday on the IOW and stayed in this amazing rental. The house with the wow factor certainly did deliver. Beautiful and spacious the Holliday rental is one of the best we have stayed in. Plenty of room for the 10 of us and so close to the islands best beaches and attractions. The pool is a must when you visit with a family, total family fun for all. The booking was seemless which included the ferry bookings. Great fun was had by all, thank you, looking forward to next year when we can return
