“Nice House, Good Location but needs TLC”

Lotts View is a very nice house in a lovely position in Paignton. However, it is poorly managed and not inspected properly between lets. There was no meet and greet and we found quite a few things unacceptable on arrival. We had to contact the person in charge by telephone.

We were a party of four adults and two young children. We chose this house for the lovely garden and planned to spend time relaxing in the garden and going to the beach. However, most of the garden furniture was broken and very dangerous (this had been commented on in the Visitors Book by previous guests) and there was no parasol for shade in extremely hot weather. Apparently it had been broken and not replaced. Please also note that the "barbecue area with sun loungers" has no barbecue and no sun loungers, much to our disappointment.

As there was no wifi and limited TV channels we brought DVDs for the children but the DVD equipment didn't work either, even although it had been commented on in the Visitors book. The TV is also very small and outdated.

The decking areas were very dirty, especially the upstairs balcony area where two old rickety wooden chairs were placed. My husband and I were looking forward to relaxing on the balcony and enjoying the lovely views, but this was not possible.

We spent four days of our holidays trying to get things sorted out, by phoning and texting the manager and owner. We also had visits from the manager trying to fix the DVD, one at 8.30pm. This was very upsetting and annoying and not what you expect from a "Blue Chip Holiday". The DVD was eventually replaced and two very old sunloungers found in the garage. Four adults had to share these. We eventually received two garden chairs and a parasol on the 2nd last day of our holiday.

To make matters worse I received a text from the owner stating that a window cleaner would be arriving at 9am on the Friday before we left to clean the outside and inside windows. This was totally unacceptable and we refused to accept this, especially when we had suffered filthy windows all week.

Despite everything we had a nice holiday but it could have been better. My husband and I had travelled from Scotland to enjoy a holiday with my daughter and grandsons who live in Somerset. We have rented houses and apartments in Scotland for many years but never had an experience like this.

We booked this trip as we needed a quiet break after a really hectic start to the year. The house was fresh, clean and full of all the necessary items needed for self catering and relaxing fully!.
Décor was modern and minimalistic meaning you don't feel like you're staying in someone else's home.
The location is fantastic! Complete peace and quiet, the feeling of security and within a 5 minute walk of the harbour and sea front. In addition to this it is in a great position for driving to all the local attractions within a comfortable time.
Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.

“Excellent place, perhaps best postion for a holiday house.”
Reviewed 4 April 2013 for a stay in August 2012

This was our second stay at lotts View, both times was excellent. very comfortable, beds, chairs etc. Large kitchen. When we book an holiday first thing we look for is private parking and location to main seafront. This place ticks both box's. Great garden. Kids only complaint was the tv had no disney channel, but they soon forgot about that. Five minute walk to main seafront, flat walking. What more could you ask for.
