“Amazing stay yet again”
Reviewed 11 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

Wonderful as always - this was our 6th stay. A fabulous home from home. Everything that you need for a comfortable stay is there waiting to be enjoyed. The bed is so comfy, bathroom perfect, washing machine in vestibule just off the bathroom. Lounge area so homely with lots of lovely quaint pictures and memorabilia. Superb kitchen area, again with everything on hand, liked the new fridge freezer. Everything is spotless throughout the cottage.Bruce's home made bread went down a treat as always and we enjoyed the little bottles of wine, the chocolates and flowers, fantastic thoughtful extra touches. Mysty the collie was happy to munch on some of the dog treats, also provided. Anita and Bruce are brilliant hosts and so welcoming. Really enjoyed catching up with them again, and all their gorgeous collies. All in all - perfection and tranquility. We will be back xxxxx

“Lovely remote location”
Reviewed 13 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

A cosy cottage in a secluded location, perfect for a quiet few days away. Wish we'd had more chance to go for some longer walks. Plenty of pleasant local villages and Newcastle is only an hour away should you want to explore wider.

Thank you for your review and we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Butterfly Cottage. A car is a must unless guests just want to chill out and walk the hills locally. High Force is about 15 minutes away and local restaurants are dotted along the Wear valley in most of the villages with a good selection within a 20 minute radius. As the cottage is on the Northumberland, Durham and Cumbrian borders the main cities and towns of Newcastle/Gateshead, Durham, Penrith, Carlisle, Hexham and Darlington are all within an hours drive away so for people wanting to dip into several counties the cottage is well located.

“Just Perfect!”

I stayed in this cottage for two nights over the bank holiday weekend with my 2 dogs Harley & Lily. It was the perfect little getaway, beautiful cottage, well equipped, with a great mix of traditional & modern decor it is nice & light with a lovely butterfly theme throughout. Well managed by Bruce & Anita who are both friendly & helpful but unobtrusive.
On arrival I was greeted by a scented candle burning with a nice welcome note & information. Wine, Chocolates, fresh flowers, treats for the dogs & a freshly baked loaf of bread & milk! Fantastic attention to detail & very much appreciated
I ate breakfast on the deck both mornings, the view is fantastic, whilst the dogs explored the private garden which is both secure & safe. At night the garden is lit with subtle lighting & fairy lights on the deck which is a very pretty touch.
The bed was super comfy & the pillows & duvet were amazing - best sleep Iv had in a while!
Would loved to have stayed a while longer & I will definately be back.

Thank you for your kind review. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and that you found the bed so comfy. It's good to know when putting investment into something a bit more costly guests appreciate it.

“beautiful view surroundings and cottage”
Reviewed 24 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

The cottage is just as described but was absolutely amazed at the beautiful surroundings and views from the cottage. The layout of the cottage is lovely and love the split door so even on a coolish day you can have the top open and have a cup of tea and see the views. The bedroom was cosy and the bed and bedding one of the most comfortable I have slept on. Everything you could need was in the cottage and the little extras such as homemade bread wine and chocs left by Anita was an added bonus. If you are a walker there are some beautiful walks and lots of hills. The only little thing is it would be nice to have had a little vanity unit that you can sit at near a socket so can do hair and makeup. Loved it and if going to the area will definately book again.

We are pleased you enjoyed your stay at the cottage. We try not to clutter the cottage too much with furniture and I think most people would use the large anti mist mirror in the bathroom and vanity unit in there also there is a plug next to the large dressing mirror where we keep the hair drier in the chest of drawers, however we will take on board your suggestion that some people might want to sit down to do their hair and make up and will try and address this issue.
