“Durham”
Reviewed 27 August 2018 for a stay in August 2018

I agree with the host's statement about the cottage. However the stairs is steep and there is no garden to relax in. Suitable as a place to sleep when exploring Durham and surrounds.

“A lovely place for a winter break.”
Reviewed 5 December 2017 for a stay in November 2017

A cosy cottage down a short lane in an historical area of Ebchester. The owners are very thoughtful supplying a bottle of wine on arrival and some essential food. The cottage was lovely and warm - very welcome after a day out in November. We would love to visit it again and would recommend it to friends.

Thank you so much for your lovely 5 Star review, it is very much appreciated and valued. I am pleased you both enjoyed your stay. It's so handy to have the Derwent Inn just a short walk away, to have a lovely relaxing meal and drinks. I wonder whether you found any lovely pieces of sea glass in Seaham, there is also a beach in Whitley Bay that throws up these treasures too, a friend of mine makes some lovely pieces of art and jewellery from them. I look forward to welcoming you back in the future, Best Wishes.

“Cosy”
Reviewed 8 September 2017 for a stay in September 2017

Ideally situated for our visits to Durham and Beamish Musuem, very clean and comfortable with public houses and stores within walking distance.
Just off the main road but very quiet and comfortable with nice views of the horses in the field at the rear.
In all an enjoyable couple of nights break, would definitely return if visiting the area again.

Thank you for your 5***** review, it is greatly valued and appreciated. I'm so pleased that you found the cottage well situated for your visits, and you enjoyed the cottage and the surrounding area and landmarks on offer. I agree, it is so pretty and peaceful to have the views at the rear of the cottage and the enjoyment of watching the horses grazing. The cottage is quietly tucked away but has the convenience of a well stocked, friendly village store just around the corner, which is a lovely short walk passed the horses and church to get your morning papers and a few good pubs within a short walking distance, serving good wines, ales and food and hearing the gentle chimes of the village church bells, makes it idyllic, complemented by the birdsong, just outside the little cottage garden. You are very welcome to visit again if you are ever visiting the area, and please be sure to extend this invitation to your friends and family, many thanks.
