This was our fifth stay at The Ryebeck and whilst everything was OK, that is as good as I could say. Standards appear to have slipped since our last visit. We were offered 2 room upgrades £20/ ngt and £40/ ngt and there was really very little difference in the rooms. One major complaint is the size of the TV in the room, a 12 inch TV is inadequate. Food is good but certainly not the cuisine we have had in the past. Just ordinary bog standard food you could get anywhere.

It was almost clear of snow when we approached Bowness from the north over the Kirkstone Pass but it was still cold! The hotel on the other hand was warm and welcoming. We had booked for two nights B&B in a Superb room through Travelzoo and had made reservations for the restaurant both nights.
The room (11) was very clean and well laid out (lots of hangers in the wardrobe!); the bathroom was immaculate with power shower over the corner jacuzzi bath, robes and big fluffy towels. There was a good view over the extensive grounds towards the lake although the view was obscured by mist and rain.
The hotel was lightly occupied and very quiet- we were one of only half a dozen couples in the restaurant on the first night. The food was excellent. The menu was the same on both nights but there was sufficient variety of meats and fish to satisfy us. Of particular note was the twice baked cheese and chive souffle- my wife's favourite. A good selection of wines by the glass was offered at sensible prices. Serving staff were friendly, smoothly professional and attentive - top marks! The bar has a very good selection of spirits, as well as Theakstons on tap. Breakfasts were standard fare but very well presented and served.
We could not over-praise the hotel staff, particularly but not exclusively, Duncan the General Manager and we left reluctantly after two excellent nights.

We stayed here for a long weekend. We stayed in room 7 and as I am a light sleeper, I found this room ideal as it is down a corridor with only one other room, so very quiet. The staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for you. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The room was great with new towels, sheets and a very new looking and well maintained room. The food in the restaurant was also very good. We had dinner here on 2 nights and enjoyed both. I would highly recommend.

Stayed 2 nights , Friday to Sunday , in a Superb room with amazing views of Lake Windermere . Lovely bathroom with corner Jacuzzi - Ate in the restaurant on both evenings - lovely menu , beautifully cooked and presented food , with good service , in a very attractive Dining Room . Wine list is quite small but some decent stuff at very reasonable prices . Very well stocked bar , very cozy , and lovely Lounge with great views . Lovely 10 minute walk in to Bowness .

Booked one of the best rooms in the property and thought it very good value for money as it included dinner bed and breakfast. The staff were lovely and our room had everything we needed. We had views over Lake Windermere and the hotel had a lounge where we could relax and read provided magazines and newspapers. The restaurant faced the lake and the food was delicious. There was a small bar which wasnt overpriced and we were looked after extremely well by the friendly staff.I will definitely be going back and will recommend it to all my friends. We even saw deer and pheasants roaming in the grounds
