I'm lucky enough to have travelled a bit and this beach just draws me back time and again.

It's not sandy, you can't swim but it's just an amazing place. We'll over 10 miles of billions of pebbles, huge waves crashing is. Next to no people so you can really be in touch with the beauty of the place.

I've been visiting here since I was 11 and I still love just sitting there and taking it all in.

Not a bad spot to find driftwood, and spot wildlife too, if you can tear yourself away from the view.

We parked in the National Trust car park near Burton Bradstock. 50p an hour.

The beach can be found by walking down a concrete path the path is on a slight incline (seemed steeper on the way back).

The beach is all shingle which is hard work on the legs as your feet sink into the stones.
Walking close to the sea is definitely easier on the legs, however this was not possible due to all the sea fishing going on. The anglers were sat at least 20 meters away from the sea front hidden in tents leaving their lines crossing the beach at chest/waist height.

This is a beautiful beach spoilt by to many fishing lines.

Stopped for a walk in a snow blizzard! Could barely stand up due to the strength of the wind! But it really added to the drama & beauty. Crashy waves & stunning views on an abandoned beach. We didn’t stay too long due to the weather, but very glad we made the effort to troop up to the top of the bank & have a walk along it for half an hour. The walking is not easy on the loose pebbles.
Drove up to Portland afterwards for stunning views down onto the beach from above.

Always a fantastic view of this natural phenomenon. Lots of good walks, several other places to explore like the Abbotsbury Swannery, Tropical Gardens, Abbotsbury's shops and tearooms, etc.. Vista best viewed from the Abbotsbury to Bridport road above St Catherine's Chapel.

Pity this visitor centre is mediocre. Having said that, there are some interesting exhibits (e.g. the live images from under the water) and access to Chesil bank. The cafe is mediocre and you have to pay for the car park. If you want refreshments, best to go across the road a little bit towards Wyke where there is a very nice cafe overlooking Portland Harbour. Looks a bit scruffy from the outside but nice inside. Alternatively, go to the water sports centre further down the road towards Portland
