“The perfect location for a weekend getaway!”
Reviewed 27 February 2013 for a stay in February 2013

Sending a BIG thank you to Raygill for having us last weekend. Peter, you were so helpful in bringing us everything we needed and giving advice about the local attractions. The house was just what we were looking for for our big group, and was cosy, warm and comfortable. It was lovely to have a walking route to Barnard castle right on our doorstep!
Thanks so much for your warm welcome!
Rachel

“Brilliant Place for a group stay!”
Reviewed 11 February 2013 for a stay in February 2013

I booked Raygill for my sisters hen weekend.
There were 15 of us that stayed in the end. The cottage was excellent for what we wanted! There was lots of space so we didnt fee like we were all cramped in. There was even enough room for the mini disco I had taken ;o)
The owner (Peter) was very helpful and easy going which was exactly what we needed for 15 loud geordie girls that were up dancing, singing and playin games all night.
I had asked if I could go earlier in the day to 'set up' for the weekend and this wasnt a problem either.

We thought the price was excellent too. Barnard Castle is approx 10 mins in a taxi.
I would deffinitely recomend this place for a group get together, and will no doubt be going again sometime.
Thank you for an excellent stay Peter!

“perfect location for group get together!”
Reviewed 11 January 2013 for a stay in January 2013

We booked Raygill for our work holiday for 2 nights after a hectic Christmas and New Year in our restaurant. There were 14 of us altogether and there was plenty of space for us all in the communal areas and bedrooms and facilities were fine.
We were met on arrival by the owner Peter who gave us a tour of the property and explained everything clearly. He was on hand throughout our stay if we had any issues which was helpful.
The pool table was good and enjoyed by the boys in the group and the girls watched a film on the huge TV and DVD player which for some reason would only play in black and white!
It was easy to find for most of us, one of our party did find herself stuck in some mud after driving off route and Peter the owner came to her rescue and pulled her car out with his tractor, an amusing start to our holiday for the rest of the group!
We stayed in for our first night there and cooked for us all, plenty of space in the kitchen to prepare and cook food and everything we needed was there. There is a huge dining area where we were all able to sit together and enjoy our meal and best of all a dishwasher so very few pots to wash!!
Beds were comfy and warm, and as some forgot towels Peter was happy to provide some for us! Showers worked well and there was no issue with hot water despite 14 people showering daily.
On the 2nd night we ventured into Barnard castle for drinks and a meal. Minibuses were sorted no problem with Hodgsons and Allans taxis who were excellent and brought us right to the door!
Our meal in Spice Island was excellent too and we felt very welcome in the pubs we visited even though we were a little loud being a large party on a Thursday night!

Everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed their stay, so much so that we are looking to book for another break in July!
Thanks for looking after us Peter, see you again soon :)

“Lovely area, perfect house for a large group and a lovely, helpful owner.”
Reviewed 11 January 2013 for a stay in December 2012

We booked Raygill for new years eve 2012/13 - there were 14 of us in total and the house was perfect for our needs. The kitchen was spacious with everything we needed and a lovely large table we could all sit around. The lounge again was huge, big enough for everyone to be in and had a pool table which went down a treat! The bedrooms are spacious and the beds were comfy - with one large dorm room and 3 smaller rooms including one en suite. It was close enough to Barnard Castle for us to walk in through the woods (which took about half an hour) and it was close to other lovely walking spots such as High Force (20 mins drive). Peter who runs Raygill couldn't have been more helpful and was on hand during our entire stay for anything we might have needed. Raygill is perfect for large parties. - Review from Laura Clarke (Stayed 29th Dec - 2nd Jan)

“Perfect Party”
Reviewed 22 December 2012 for a stay in August 2012

My fiancee and I booked Raygill for the August bank holiday weekend to host an engagement party for a gathering of family and friends. Peter, manager of the accommodation, was helpful from the point of booking through to the event and departure. On arrival, we were greeted, offered help with anything and given flexibility to use areas within the grounds. There is a large amount of communal space within the building to allow for a gathering of people or host a large group for a holiday. The larger of the bedrooms is great for a big group, with three other rooms offering privacy, one with an en-suite, which is useful as the shower facilties, although do the job, require an upgrade, though reflected in the price which is great value. There is space at the rear of the centre to park, set up barbeque etc which on a nice day, is ideal. We had initial concerns over the road surface leading to the site but Peter re-surfaced this on request, highlighting the centre's helpfulness in responding to any queries. We had a fantastic time at the venue and encountered no problems during our stay.
