We booked a table for diner and on arrival we gave our details for the booking and number of our group which was 9. The lady’s attitude was appalling telling us that we was wrong! Excuse me but why would we say 5 if we are a group of 9! We understand mistakes happen and accept that but we won’t accept the attitude received from the staff. Never going back

Dear Elizabeth W,
The booking was made by your husband an hour before you were due to arrive. I understood the party size to be 5 and repeated this to your husband. If I heard this incorrectly, then I apologise. However, we were unable to accommodate a party of 9 - as a five it was our last available table. At no point did I say that you were wrong and I apologised to your husband if I had misheard. This was an honest mistake and I am having trouble understanding your attitude; however, I accept that you were upset and appreciate that you will never return

Having a new granddaughter to visit have been to Coleford 4 times since December 2017. We have tried 3 other properties in the Coleford area and now the search for the best is over. Barbara is the friendliest host I have had the pleasure to meet. Nothing is
too much trouble for her. The room we stayed in was beautifully decorated as were all the other public rooms we were in. Breakfast had everything you could ask for. We didn't eat in the evening (family time) but judging by the number of non-resident and resident clientle eating there it must be splendid.
We shall be back in a few months.

We found this hotel while searching for somewhere when a friend got married at Clearwell Castle which is literally 5mins away by car. The couple who run it were friendly and informative and their service was first class during our visit.

The town of Coleford is two minutes walk away (I’d recommend the micro pub ‘the dog house’) and if you need a Forest of Dean base or a clean, cosy and reasonably priced place to stay for Clearwell Castle then I’d thoroughly recommend.

We stayed at Forest house on a Thursday and Friday as very close to Clearwell castle where we were attending a famuly wedding.
Our room for the two nights was lovely.
A large group of us ate together on the Thursday eve and both the food and service was excellent.
The lovely owners are what make this small hotel so special and I would not hesitate in recommending Forest house to anyone visiting the area.
