We visited the Magna Carta Tea Rooms on this very snowy Sunday in February. It's quite a hive of activity, particularly when there are so many families sledging on the nearby hills and using this place to get warmed up with a Hot Chocolate! This place is open all year round, except Christmas Day, and is a handy stopping place. We've called in regularly over the last few months for a cup of tea and slice of cake, or for the Cream Teas.
It's a very friendly, family run place. Very clean, good selection of cakes, and the bacon butties are terrific. A word of warning, though - the Cream Tea is too much for one person - it's made for sharing :-)

Just as perfect as the last contributor described. I didn't read any signs confirming either way but I came away wondering whether the furniture in the tea room was also down to Lutyens. On balance I thought not but maybe. What a pity too, that the two lodges are bisected by such a busy boring road.

In one of the Lutyens-designed pavilions near the Magna Carta monument and the JFK Memorial. This is a classic English tea room serving cream teas, sandwiches, light lunches. The tables are covered in oil cloth and the dresser is full of knick-knacks, and various cards for sale. Step back in time and visit. Excellent fare, good value, friendly staff. Then walk by the Thames.
