Beautiful cottage set in lovely surroundings. The owner George is a very friendly man. There is such a variety of animals on the farm too snd they are friendly too. Kids would have a great time there. We really enjoyed our stay.
Rooskey Cottage is fantastic. A real hidden gem of a little cottage tucked away in the beautiful Fermanagh countryside. George, the owner, is very friendly, great craic and was very helpful about advising of great places to visit in the local area.
My girlfriend and I were looking for a tranquil break in the Irish countryside and we found it in Rooskey cottage.
The cottage has a fantastic 'oldie-world-y' Irish charm, and comes complete with wood burning stove in an amazing fireplace. The feel of the place is just great and it also has every convenience that you would need for your stay, including a well equipped kitchen. My girlfriend and I are both Architects (being fussy about houses is what we do..) and we totally fell in love with the place!
George's dogs were incredibly friendly and were very well behaved indeed - we really enjoyed bringing them into the cottage in the evenings and having them curl up by the fire. This was a real treat for us - but don't worry if you aren’t a dog lover because you do not have to invite them in if you do not wish - and they will not bother you, if you don't want them to.
In terms of the location - awesome - so secluded and peaceful, yet very close by to lots of great activities that Fermanagh has to offer - you will not be stuck for things to do. Tip - if you are a fan of seafood and breath-taking views - The Smugglers Creek is the place to go - it’s just a 15mile nip over the border into Rossnowlagh, Donegal - well worth the trip (go before sunset to enjoy view of Rossnowlagh bay - you can see America on a clear day!!)
Well I have probably rambled on long enough - but I can't recommend Rooskey Cottage highly enough - we will most definitely be back!
Thanks for a great stay George (and dogs)!
