“First class hotel in prime location”

We stayed over here on a "Friday Night Special", which gives you a room,3 course meal and breakfasts for £99. I have to say our stay was fantastic, from the friendly very efficient staff to the facilities provided which again were 1st class. Our room was spotless, spacious and overlooked the Metro Centre. The bed was huge and very comfortable with lots of cushions enabling us a superb night sleep. We used the gym which is well stocked with cardio machines and the pool. Our meal on the night was either a set 3 course menu (with choices) or anything up to £18.50 on the main menu. The only down side to the 3 course menu is that you need to spend extra for the side dishes (average: £3.10 per dish) but we got 2 courses on the main menu which did not accrue an extra cost. The meal was well presented and very nice and we finished off the night in Chats bar on some comfy leather sofas. After an early session in the gym the next day we went down for breakfast which was fabulous. Choices of continental, full English and cakes/pastries where all on offer with ample amounts of coffee. This is a really well ran and organised hotel which could teach other major hotels how to treat its customers and I can only highly recommend staying here. Also, you have the bonus of The Metro Centre on your doorstep as well as being well placed for Newcastle and the airport. Really impressive and we will be returning.

Room Tip: Book early and request a room away from the lift doors.

We have just returned from an overnight stay at this hotel with our nine year old daughter. Upon checking in our daughter was offered a colouring pack and we were offered a complimentary glass of wine. We did not have to wait to check in and the reception staff were more than helpful. We have stayed in many hotels with our children before and this was the first one that was really welcoming to families. The pool was great, the changing rooms might benefit from being updated a little but they were very clean and the pool was nice. We were offered towels for the pool and once again the leisure centre reception staff were really nice.
We only stayed for one night - our room was nice, again some furniture might need updating but the beds were really comfortable - I suffer badly from a bad back (one of the perils of being a nurse!!!) and I found the bed really good. They had made up the sofa bed for our daughter which was good. The room was very clean and we had no complaints at all. We stayed for breakfast - this was included in our stay, otherwise breakfast would cost about 15 pounds - might seem like a lot but am sure that this is average for hotel stays. The staff were all very polite and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble at all. I would most definately recommend this hotel for a stay and will be returning. Whilst I appreciate that other reviews may not be as favourable I can only say that the staff are very friendly and made all of us feel welcome and our daughter did not want to leave!!!!!!

Decided to try this hotel based on the numerous positive reviews on this site. I was not disappointed, The hotel is easliy accessable just off the A1, We were checked in no problem despite being a bit earlier than the normal check in time. The room was on the first floor and was of a high standard and what I have come to expect from a Marriott Hotel, We decided not to to have dinner at the hotel as there are a number of places to eat dotted around the Metro Centre complex, We did however enjoy breakfast the following morning and found the staff at Breakfast very helpful.
Overall I was very pleased with my time spent here and will return when next staying in the area.

I've stayed in this hotel a couple of times now. Both times I've been disappointed. My number one gripe is that the bed (as in mattresses) are old and WAY past their "sell by" date. I have had a king room both times and the bed is so worn out that there is a visible indentation where it has been worn down by countless sleeping people. I hate that you are reminded that somebody has slept in the exact same place as you! No matter how hard you try, you still wake up in the indent! The rooms also have a musty (used to allow smoking) kind of smell.
