Picked Grantown on Spey, for accommodation, to avoid Aviemore.
Tulach Ard turned out to be everything we wanted and price was right and breakfasts were excellent.
A very high standard of cleanliness was apparent from the outset and the landlady, Claire, was more than helpful with solving any problems I have with food. Nothing appeared to be a bother to her.
There was even a set of local Ordnance Survey maps available to borrow while we were there.
Tulach Ard turned out to be central for all of our requirements (wildlife photography) and we wouldn't hesitate to use it again and also recommend it to all our friends as a first choice as a place to stay in the Cairngorms National Park.
Great places to eat, were within walking distance on the same road as the accommodation.

Tulach Ard is small but delightful, presented to the highest standards and Claire and Doug are great hosts. The accommodation is well kept, clean and contemporary. The area has a wealth of activities for all weathers and beautiful scenery in all directions. Just a short walk from the house is the Spey River, the town is just a stroll up the hill, golf course, museum, a real bookshop, there is much to explore here. Be sure to include a trip to the Craig Bar - probably the best in the area! More B&B's should be like this!
Ideal central location for all outdoor activities in the highlands! We came up from Edinburgh on a 3 day, 2 night break and combined fishing on the River Spey 10 minutes away with golf in nearby Aviemore and Boat of Garten.
Accommodation was first class. Extremely comfortable beds, steaming showers, relaxing communal sitting room, dining table, modern kitchen in front of a wood chip fire. All you need to settle down after an active day.
If you can manage to leave the body hugging sofas and want to venture out, the centre of town is only 10 minutes walk to restaurants, shops and the local watering holes.
Wow is all I can say.
The most friendliest family I have ever met.
The accommodation is faultless and the hospitality from Claire and Doug Mckenzie you can't compare.
The accommodation is fantastic for couples and families alike and the surrounding area is breathtaking with some super local walks and plenty to see and do.
My daughter who is 10 loves this place and we will be visiting again and again.
Local shops and amenities close by and the best Scottish breakfast I have ever had.
The scenery is beautiful and great base for exploring the Cairngorms with plenty of local activities for kids and couples. Aviemore is very close so skiing is also an option.
The drive is easy from Perth and the B&B is on the main street as you enter Grantown.
Claire and Doug know the area intimately and you can guarantee a brilliant short or long break here.
