We were given room number 30 which was supposed to be a double. Smallest double bedroom I have ever seen. the "bathroom" was a shower room with toilet situated in a cupboard on the wall accessible by steep steps. The washbasin was in the bedroom, next to the old fashioned portable defunct television set. The bedding was a mismatch of ancient sheets and blankets. I cannot comment on the food in the hotel since we only stayed a few minutes. By the time we left the bedroom the manager has disappeared. We therefore took our leave and booked into a nearby hotel with clean modern facilities.

Room Tip: Cannot comment on the other rooms in this hotel, but we will not be looking to return under any circ...

I stayed here for 4 nights on a self drive holiday.
The hotel is well located but the rooms and decor need a good makeover.
The food is for mass catering - ie packet soups etc.
The manager needs to go on a customer care course as he has no inter personal skills - everything is a nuisance to him.

Just arrived home from a 5 day stay at the Hadleigh Gables Hotel with our group organised by Mrs Fowler. Having pre- read the reviews of the hotel I was unsure of what to expect. On arrival we were met by John, the owner & given our keys & escorted to our rooms quite promptly. I shared a large room with 2 friends & was pleasantly surprised. It was warm & clean with pleanty of space for us 3 men. Rooms were cleaned & fresh towels supplied every day. The meals were hot & a reasonable enough size. I had read they were served on a tea plate.(rubbish) Our waitress Danielle was pleasant & very helpful. Some rooms had a heating problem but was soon sorted out on reporting it. Glen (the barman was entertaining) but I thought the bar prices a bit high, but the manager & staff were curtious & friendly.

I stayed at the Hadleigh Gables for 5 weeks while working nearby. The manager was friendly and very flexible to our needs. Breakfast was served to us an hour before the usual 8am service time which is great for people who like an early start to the day. Our rooms were clean and tidy. The bar was well stocked and the staff were helpful and friendly. We even got a discount because of the length of our stay. If you're on a budget and like old fashioned seaside entertainment you can do alot worse than stay here.

This is by far, the worst hotel I have stayed in for a long, long time. I reckon this establishment was the model for ''Faulty Towers ''

John, the owner, was extremely rude to his staff and customers. Food was basic, and portions small. Entire meals appeared to originate from packets and freezer.

Rooms were basic and badly in need of a makeover. ( Bedding and towels, it must be said, were spotless.)

I was there in my capacity as a coach driver, with a party of tourists on a six day holiday.

I had the misfortune to have a room in the annexe, on the third floor. ( No lift, just narrow, steep stairs. I did not even have the luxury of an en-suite, just a loo and shower across the hall.

The only good point I can think of was Glen the barman. He made everyone's holiday.

All in all, it wouldn't bother me if I wasn't sent back there again.
